I'm having some unsightly varicose veins removed from the back of one of my legs tomorrow by laser. As anybody had this done? I'm absolutely dreading it. Is there much pain and discomfort afterwards? Thanks x

I always thought it was done by vein stripping.

not sure how laser does it, would need a blow torch for mine.

Don't be scared. I had some removed couple of years ago, and the only discomfort was they told me to wear very tight sock for a week.

Yes, you can do everything as normal. There is no pain, as the veins do not have pain receptors.

The laser burns them inside, which makes them to close(no blood flows) and the body regects them slowly.

Only 5% of the blood goes through those veins, so not as important as you might think.

Thanks ever so much. I've been given a leaflet that explains the procedure but can't find anyone that's had it done. You really have put my mind at rest. I'm very grateful x
