Isn't it confusing when half the population don't seem to understand what this simple word means. All day today verious commentaters have been referring to a football match "next" monday, which of course is tomorrow. But they mean a week tomorrow - so own up who uses it correctly

It is accepted that when you refer to 'next monday' etc you are referring to the Monday AFTER the coming one.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

"...else it would be THIS Monday. "

Thats how I use it. Unfortunately not everyone does, which makes it very important to check dates when arranging meets!

Me too.

However, as it does cause confusion, I often adapt to 'this monday' and 'a week on Monday'... or double check with 'so not this Monday but next Monday'.

Fuck it, I'm just going to use the date from now on.
