Interest in the notion of FabFet?

FabFet. A user friendly site for kinky swingers, vanilla/soft kinksters, newbies, novices and beginners to the world's of fet and BDSM who may find it a bit intimidating, extreme or intense and off putting.

I've had the idea of FabFet for a few years now and every time I mention it there's a small amount of interest. I'm now wondering how much interest. So for all you kinky forumites, what say you?

Show your support and lets see if the Fab powers to be are watching and listening.

"Isnt there another site specifically for that?"

There is but I, like others find it's not as user friendly to navigate around as Fab. It's also full of "full on" kinksters that some who prefer softer, fluffier BDSM and kink find a little intimidating. FabFet would,I think, bridge that gap.

Things like restrictions on certain style photos as well as words and phrases, even tone of conversation can earn you a reprimand or stint on the naughty step. FabFet would allow a little more freedom of expression.

There and to the left a bit

I like the idea in principle and am always open to BDSM/fetish discussions when they appear within the forums here - my fear would be that a separate site for it would soon be inundated with either the hardcore element (who can be a little "the right way" about it) or dangerous wannabes and the original concept would be lost.

As a compromise halfway house a forum section dedicated to all things kink/fet could work (although I concede still subject to the elements mentioned)

We would still be governed by the picture rules dictated here though. Although we can specify our kinks we can upload our photos. Also the discussions here can get a little bit heated with certain kinks, definitely be nice to talk openly with like minded people

Oh not at all as we often see on threads of that ilk (and hence my conceding point) - they'll never be escaped completely sadly whether it be here or any other site although with a more kink/fet oriented level of moderation it could minimise it I guess (which would require a separate site if different rules were required).

That site is specifically designed not to be used to search for people by age/gender/location/etc. It means that the women don't get hounded with messages or approaches for play which is why so many stick around. It's more like social media than a dating/meeting site and many people aren't looking for partners/play partners. Personally I like it for what it is and it's nice to have a place I can look at and share kinky pictures and interact with people about kink without getting pestered by horny men.

Oh I understand that, just not what it is that people find difficult.

If they could express it then the same mistakes won’t be made.

I am of the opinion like others though, that the reason a lot of people find it “difficult” is because they think it’s like fab, it’s a site to meet people.

And like Lacey and bike monkey, I agree it’s a totally different thing

I have to admit to being totally confused by it, and not sure how to work it. There are lots and lots of options on there which is overwhelming. I understand Fab and FL are different formats. I don't like the FB aspect/feel to the other site. I like my kink to be fun and interactive as it is on Fab. I agree with CitizenSin, I think there is room for this concept.

Agreed. I have used kink dating apps in the past (i met my partber on one!) as sometimes you get to the point where you know everyone currently a regular your local scene but i quite like having that as a separate thing. If a site like the one proposed was created, I imagine many like myself on the existing site would use it in addition to rather than instead of for the reasons we've discussed.

I understand Fab and FL are different formats. I don't like the FB aspect/feel to the other site. I like my kink to be fun and interactive as it is on Fab. I agree with CitizenSin, I think there is room for this concept.

I have to admit to being totally confused by it, and not sure how to work it. There are lots and lots of options on there which is overwhelming. The worst bit I found was not knowing if the people I was talking to were online too Not for stalking purposes just knowing if I could start a chat or not "

"I hate that other site, it’s so awkward to use, not user friendly at all.

What I love about Fab, is it’s so simple to find people in your area, really easy filters etc

Ecactly

What I like about the other site it is very much geared around real connections on the scene and using it to hook up while not impossible isn't what it is designed for.

If you dint go to events it's a bit of a shit site. If you are searching for meets it's a shit site. If you use the other site as it is intended itsva pretty decent site

Ah, ok. See, I couldn’t work it out at all, I found it so confusing and I’m your face.

For me, I’m more interested in meeting than talking about kink, so presumably it wouldn’t be the best option for be anyway? "

No I wouldn't say it would be though a lot of people on the kink scene prefer to meet people in person than online so you can use it to find events and munchs and then friend the people you meet at them and use it to keep in touch with them and what they're attending in the future.

I agree with lots that has been said on here.

In addition, I've reached stalemate on the other site because I've got to a point of wanting to see the whites of someone's eyes before going any further; there's no way of exchanging pics privately and I'm not yet willing to move onto another chat platform. It would be great to have some of the fab functionality combined with freedom of expression.

This would be great and I would definitely be in.

The other site has its uses, but it's very badly implemented and there are many frustrating aspects to it, like the bewildering number of groups all covering the same topic, so it's hard to find the best group to join. And so many of them are filled with posts from years ago.

I get that they don't want it to be a personals/contact site, but there is just no sense of anybody else being active on it. Or finding those that are.

And it's not even mobile responsive, so trying to read it on a phone is a nightmare.

So a site that offered the information and alleged social aspects of FL with Fab's way of showing you who is actually still active on the site would be great.

And of course a contact area with filters which included location would be brilliant. Everyone on the other place is in Antarctica

As I've explained, as brilliant as Fab is, it's geared up more for swingers than those of us interested in Fet and BDSM. FabFet would allow us to communicate using words, pictures, phrases and tone that is not allowed on this particular site. The common issues with the other sites that cater for kink, are they're not as user friendly, are harder to navigate and formatted more like FB.

The other site is more like Facebook and not designed for dating.

I'd love a site like fab but with more section options for BDSM.

Atm all we have is SM and spanking which isn't very useful to find like minded fun.

Just expanding the BDSM options for interests kinks would help people find each other a lot more. No need for a new site then.

Bondage, D/s, control and an indication of if you identify as a sub/bottom or Dom/Top in addition to SM would be amazing and at least cover the most common fetishes.

I can see that the gap is there, and that it would be a gentler introduction into the scene than straight into the other site, but what jumps into my head is a safety aspect if no experienced kinksters join and interact to share their knowledge. What I mean by that is personal safety with regards to mainly BDSM practices, which if not done correctly by an enthusiastic yet inexperienced person, can cause injuries or worse.

Absolutely. And, there are people known in various scenes for being dangerous. At your local munch you might be told, oh, avoid X, s/he seems nice but trust me...

Those known people would flock to a beginner fet site. I mean, I suspect it's already a problem here and truthfully have narrowly avoided an X or two myself (I have my sources).

Have you actually explored the site fully??? I get messages all the time from totally reasonable kinky people, who do not throw teddies when a polite rejection is returned (and yes I have had it from couples on here, not just men... ).....just communication between kinky people....

Fab is more like Facebook than Fet, with the top fabbed, categorised, short video clips......actually reminds me a lot of Instagram.....funny how people on here cannot see the wood from the trees so caught up it their own little Fab world....

This is one of the reasons I keep the 2 separate. In my local scene everyone knows everyone else.

I think the other big difference regards to what people don’t like about the other place, for me it’s kink, it’s usually completely separate to sex. I don’t have to fancy someone, I just need to like them, get along with them.

My worry here is that people will associate it with sex, all of the time.

There and to the left a bit

The more I've thought about this, the more I retract my earlier post about keeping it within these walls - whilst, as Deviant Delite pointed out, it *is* possible to find perfectly safe and sane people with an interest in BDSM/kink/fetish here, as this thread alone proves - there are restrictions on what can be discussed and posted etc - add to that the point made about correctly oriented/informed moderation, and a standalone begins to make more sense.

I'll be honest and say I've not *really* used the other site, mainly because whenever I have looked at it I've found it a little confusing, but it's obvious that it works for some but not for others so perhaps a half-way house type site would work.

There actually did used to be just such a thing many years ago (like 20+) called Informed Consent was in the early dawn of the internet so was pretty basic, but in a lot of ways reminds me of this place in terms of how it was set up and run, or more to the point this place is the kind of thing I imagine it would have become over time if it hadn't closed down - it had user profiles, chat rooms, a rudimentary forum and a fairly decent area with information about the scene etc as well as pages for meets/munches etc to be posted.

I have a feeling it still exists in some way as I came across a twitter account in that name when I was looking for local events.

I posted a thread in the site feedback area a week who and it died... it could just be me though.

FabFet would be awesome - the functionality and ease of Fab is a huge draw. It has the best functionality against any other lifestyle site.

This was my first thought but then I realised the lounge and swinger's chat has more 'traffic'

What percentage of total fab users, use the forums? 4-5%?

After a little research any links or references to it take you to the "other" site so can only imagine it was taken over or died and the other site bought the domain

I'd be another into Fabfet, but unless the photo rules were relaxed somewhat, then I fear it would not succeed.

Sutton

There are 3 reasons why I am against the idea. In no particular order.

1. Fab won't allow it. Some of us have the scars from previous attempts to have an educational BDSM room. Each attempt received significant numbers in support and we now have a caravan room, a bike room and a games room. Which says something about Fab's owners attitude to BDSM.

2. Real education would mean allowing links to well known and safe BDSM sites. Where the comments of real experienced and qualified educators could be considered, accepted or rejected. There are some very experienced and insightful people on here (who I won't make blush by mentioning them), but it would be good for newbies to be able to read the views of people who are paid to think about kink. You know those dirty words "expert" and "professional". But Fab keeps to its bizarre policy of banning access to expert's sites even on vanilla subjects.

3. The name " Fabfet" says it all.

Reading this thread it seems it will be full of kinky people looking to meet other kinky people, and who are not really interested in understanding the kink dynamic and range of kink expression apart to the extent it will hopefully get a member of the opposite sex (generally female, but not necessarily so) to allow them to play with that woman's genitalia or to play with theirs. Which is fine to do, we all want to meet people but it would, I suggest be to the detriment of people being able to educate themselves. Particularly if certain men think it is a good pulling room.

My final thoughts are, FL works best by connecting with people and seeing what groups and articles interest them. Then you have media stream of information to look at. However that involves going out and supporting events from munches to workshops to play events (support your local, and not so local, event organiser) and meeting people and connecting with them.

Good Luck

Interesting.

Are you suggesting a site similar to “informed consent”?

My fear is that a “fabfet” would be full of people who enjoy the aesthetics of BDSM but are not actually keen to learn and comprehend the dynamics involved. BDSM isn’t always about sex, would “fabfet” be about BDSM and the expectation of sex?

For me FL has been successful, I have been on there since the beginning. It’s good for connecting will locals and people who are seriously into BDSM.

Hope ”fabfet ” happens for people but it’s not for me.

Thanks for your input Zensual. You make some good points. For me that's what FabFet will be about, getting kinky swingers interested and educated in the ways of fet and BDSM. As you can see on this thread there's a lot of potential kinksters who are put off by the other site's complicatedness. So they're less likely to know about, or go to events centered around, kink. It will be less about swinging and more about gently enticing and educating those who do want to understand and explore kink better. For sure you're going to get those who just want to hook up for kinky sex play but it's a chance to educate those who do want to enter the world of kink who are put off by the other site.

Fabfet would allow people to use language and pictures to express their kinkiness in a way that FabSwingers doesn't. That's the idea anyway.

No that's what FabFet would be about. Educating those interested in kink to the dynamics of fet and BDSM and how it's not centered around sex. I think the expectation of sex, in whatever format, is and will be rife regardless of whatever site is being used.
