Off the back of the thread about Porridge, is anybody here a fan of radio comedy like I am? What are your favourites? Some of my favourites are available on the interweb, though possibly not legitimately. I recommend you check some out.

Cabin Pressure (with Benedict Cumberbatch, Roger Alum and John Finnemore)

The News Quiz (which inspired Have I Got News For You)

People Like Us

Any other favourites?

Count Arthur Strong - way better than the tv show.

The Mighty Boosh radio shows were just beautiful pieces of art, with gorgeous flights of fancy.

Yep, although the Goon Show is only one I’ll listen to if it happens to be on. The others I think are excellent.

Cabin Pressure is my favourite, John Finnemore is an amazing talent.

BRIDPORT

I’m sorry I haven’t a clue is great. Jack Dee as the chairman has worked out well, I did wonder if the show would survive loosing ‘Humph’ , on this occasion it was one of the BBCs better decisions.

I’m terrible at remembering names of shows but there’s loads of good ones on 4 and 4 extra. At the moment I particularly like the one where the guy rings his parents the ‘ Wigglesworths’, the dad is also in the Archers as Jills gentleman friend at the moment.

One I can’t stand though is Count Arthur Strong, don’t get that at all, but many love it so each to their own, luckily there’s plenty of choice.

I think in general, comedy, drama, investagetive and consumer affairs programs on the wireless are of a far higher standard than telly, hence I don’t have a telly.

Just a Minute

The News Quiz

Count Arthur Strong

Dead Ringers

Comedy from the Edinburgh Fringe can be hysterical

I'm no longer a fan of The Now Show and some of the Radio 4 comedy that goes out on Thursday evening is dire.

The Beef and Dairy Network is worth finding as a podcast.

Brighton - even Hove!

Hancock was quite funny. He said he’d been practising making playing cards disappear as a Magician and had lost 3 packs that week

I also like Around the Horne with Kenneth Williams as Sandy.

The Joyce Grenfell monologues were also funny.

'On the hour' is amazing.

It's the radio version of the day today. Pretty much the same crew involved I think.

Cabin Pressure is flawless.

I love Alexei Sayle's Imaginary Sandwich Bar, too.

And, currently on BBC Sounds for a rerun, this:

I listen to BBC R4 extra as it still plays some of the Classic Comedy gems of the 60's and 70's, whilst bringing on stream some equally newer shows.

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

Cabin Pressure - is it just me, but doesn't one of the cast sound like Richard Hammond?

I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again.

The Navy Lark.

Round the Horne.

The Goon Show.

Hancock's Half Hour.

News Quiz (also on R4).

Hamish and Dougal.

If you're ever having a Crap day, or just feeling iffy, put on a Janet & John CD, or listen on YouTube.

Best "pick me up" going! Should be prescribed as Virtual Medicine on the NHS.
