Not in THAT way, ya filthy animals (much as I wish it was)

After an unexpected hospital admission and what can only be described as a massive warning sign on my health, I'm now facing a couple of weeks laid up doing not much.

I'm in need of recommendations please! I have my Kindle and my phone, and relatively decent WiFi. Any good books, games, audiobooks (I have an Audible account), websites etc. I should check out?

Lighthearted content particularly welcome!

And I thought I was going to get to dance for you.

A couple of podcasts for you:

The Moth, in which people tell interesting and often very funny stories about their life. There is an excellent one about how a guy in New York had to find accommodation by Colonel Gadaffi.

Serial is a journalist's investigation into a true crime and set the podcast world on fire.

There and to the left a bit

Depends on the kind of books you like, but would always mention Peter James series of crime thrillers with Roy Grace as the main character as a recommendation if you like that sort of thing.

Games-wise....on-line Scrabble is always good, have a couple of "time waster" games I enjoy on the phone during quiet times The Simpsons Tapped Out, Run Race 3D, Unblock Me and 2048

You can indeed but it won't be me that provides it for you.

I have videos of me playing the piano but they are too long to upload here. I should do a 20-second one for our profile.

I'd buy you a copy of 253 by Geoff Ryman in this situation. I've bought it dozens of times for friends. Easy to read, easy to put down after a page or two also good for extended reading sessions.

Premise is that there are, including the driver, 253 seats on a bakerloo line train. There are 253 pages one for each person in each seat. Each page is a micro story in its own right, but if you look carefully, some of the stories are connected.

Good travelling book too.

Currently in bed watching season 4 of The Expanse on a laptop dunno if that would be your thing but it's well written and easy to watch. I intend to stay here until it's time for work tonight.

I'm just tired from overworking this week mind, not convalescing like you OP. Swift recovery.

A Grey Moon Cat - thank you so much, some great recs there too! I'll definitely check out 253, that sounds like a great read.

Something I can read in short bursts sounds ideal too as, especially for the next few days, there'll be a lot of falling asleep going on!

Definetly would recommend it. I used to play the video game so I had really high expectations before watching it but they were met, fabously.

Only shame it they are making everyone wait tantalisingl until next year for second season fml.

Hope your recovery is speedy and not too bad Idream. Book wise (and I'm sticking with lighthearted!) The Kiss Quotient is really lovely and easy reading - perfect for dipping in and out of. Games ermm... Plants Vs Zombies? Website - The Oatmeal, xkcd, Girlonthenet are all filled with amusing things to help pass the time. Cracked is a bit hit and miss but has some fascinating articles as does Vice.

How about watching 'carry on Doctor'

Seriously though - I've just finished ' how to be right in a world gone wrong' by James O'Brian. It's excellent and makes me wish I had a sharper brain.

Also finished 'The hunting Party' a modern Agatha Christie - a murder and a bunch of people stuck somewhere remote with lots of secrets.

Can you get Netflix? Progugos is a Chilean crime series and excellent as is money heist.

Hope you get better soon
