"They wouldn’t commit to the 2% which is world wide. They have the highest carbon footprint in the world (I think) and government officials were using a loophole so as they can use in excess of the 2% expected. " While I definitely do not support the Liberals and they have done so much lining of their pockets at the detriment of 99% of the population, claiming Aust has the highest carbon footprint is nuts. While not insignificant Australia's ~400MT is still less than 3% of China and the USA. A 2% reduction would do bugger all. Even if 100% of all greenhouse gases had been stopped by Australia decades ago it would not have done anything to prevent the fires. These are the rates from the end of 2018 in kilotons of CO2 1 China 10,641,789 2 United States 5,172,336 3 European Union 3,469,671 4 India 2,454,968 5 Russia 1,760,895 6 Japan 1,252,890 7 Germany 777,905 8 Iran 633,750 9 South Korea 617,285 10 Canada 555,601

"Fuck knows but I’m going there in a week or so and was planning to hike a lot in the Blue Mountains. Obviously didn’t plan on any of this happening so not really sure what I’ll be doing now. Such a shame as it looked beautiful around there but it’s one of the worst affected areas I believe. " I went backpacking around Australia for a year before I had my children. Absolutely beautiful country, blue mountains are amazing, twin sisters are are beautiful place to sit and contemplate

"I can’t stop watching the news on this and how harrowing it must be to to live their and involved. So many wildlife and animals and human loss of life let alone houses and land burnt to a crisp. So far 15 million acres of land has been affected and tomorrow to predict a super fire when two of the biggest in southern Australia are predicted to meet. My heart goes out. Do you think Australia should now make more of a commitment towards the carbon footprint? They wouldn’t commit to the 2% which is world wide. They have the highest carbon footprint in the world (I think) and government officials were using a loophole so as they can use in excess of the 2% expected. " Nope, thats not the problem, tell it to china india to sort the mess they created,

"It’s awful I look at that and wonder how people still think Climate Change is a meme. Seeing the wildlife suffers just gets me. I saw one story about a koala and I felt shit for days. Funny amongst all the human suffering around me that poor furry fucker got to me. Off to cuddle my doggies. " Same.
