"Not for me I must say.found it rubbish"

You can't come in here , say it was rubbish and go.

Reasons please.

I thought it was not only clever and insightful in every way but also a fresh take on presenting a classic. What a treat. The sinister parts were truly sinister. I was scared. The amusing parts were a perfect portrayal of the emotional detachment from death and humanity as you would expect an immortal who has seen death as 'his life' so many times - to be. ( fucking syntax )

Van Helsing was sooooooooooo well played and despite being an enormous lead and draw , probably won't get a mention ...... will SHE. ( even im a bit tired of the token token she thing of late )

Can't wait for tonight.

All of this *points finger up* I’ll be glued to the set tonight too!

I’m slow, so I totally didn’t see Van Helsing coming - she was perfect. Intelligent, cynical but with a hubristic arrogance that proved her downfall.

Can we have a fan club thread that discusses tonight’s episode in real time? My other half is still down south so I am all by myself, watching a terrifying program, with no-one to share the wooooah moments

Agree the ending was a surprise, and really looking forward to tonight's.

Yes some cheesy acting, and some of the makeup (dodgy captains beard) was a little "Royston Vasey esque" but with the addition of the dark humour all adds to whole package.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I must say that notwithstanding veering far from Stoker’s vision, that I have been pleasantly surprised by this reimagining of the story.

Claes Bang (aside from a bit of campiness in a few parts) has proved to be very good as the titular vampire.

I even enjoyed the nice, unexpected twist at the end of last nights episode

As a sucker (apologies for the pun) for most things vampiric, I'm loving this latest interpretation of Dracula. Have literally just caught up with the second episode and it didn't disappoint ... lots of clever and thought provoking wordplay, particularly between the two leads (who are both great although Dolly Wells deserves special mention) and a didn't see that coming twist at the end setting the scene for tonight's finale. A great big gothic romp with what for me is a realistic dose of horror that's more in keeping with the ominous feeling of the original novel than some other adaptations (even if liberties have obviously been taken with the story). There's also been a few cheeky references to some of Gatiss' previous work, not that they make any difference to enjoying this one.

Hi. Look up 'Dracula' on the Internet and I think you will find that he may be based on the Romanian hero, Vlad Drac the Impaler of the Ottoman Turks who were occupying this country centuries ago. Check out the castle at Bran. I have been, like Jonathan Harker, to Transylvania and there are alot of dark forests with wolves and bears. Spooky?

Only Dracula thing I've enjoyed anywhere near as much is Love At First Bite. George Hamilton was great.

Recently, I think it was edinburgh they uncovered 3 gravesend where the occupants had been buried as per beliefs about vampires. They were face downward..the theory being if they tried to dig out to surface, they would instead dig deeper and spikes and chains had been driven across neck and wrists in order to bind them to their grave

Episode one was excellent.

Episode two was solid. Didn't see that twist ending coming.

Episode three was poor. Very disappointing ending. Dracula went from remorseless superpredator to lovesick suicide in the space of one waffly speech.

This has been standard for Moffatt ever since he took over on Doctor Who. Consistently great at setting a story up, no idea how to finish it. It's a shame, as he wrote some of the best episodes of Doctor Who prior to becoming showrunner and Coupling was always good fun.

"Episode one was excellent.

It's a shame, as he wrote some of the best episodes of Doctor Who prior to becoming showrunner and Coupling was always good fun."

I didn't appreciate episode 3 as much as the first 2.

"I thought it was great.

Episode 3 felt a bit odd and the ending was a bit rushed, but overall it was never less than entertaining.

The bloke that played Dracula was brill.

Could he be a pretender for a new Janes Bond ??"

He is. I believe. Though I have no inside information.

My favourite Dracula pre this one.... was the one with Gary Oldman. This version remains true to Dracula's breeding and heritage. He was a lord who renounced God on returning from battle to find his beloved wife Elisabeth had commited suicide believing him dead. He is then sentenced to being undead..

It was always a love story.

The story is one of metamorphosis , faith , love , loss , suffering. It's only the cheap horror versions that turned the story into something more shallow.

I thought the ending was fitting. He learned and made choices from that learning.

Up and down for me, still prefer the hammer horror version with Christopher Lee.

Loved those. They were my childhood ones but let's face it there was no story lines in those. Other than monster lives here, will bite your neck.

Really enjoyed the show and was hooked but a bit confused towards the end.....maybe it was just a bit too subtle for me. Van helsing drank his blood and the final 5 mins? Anyone care to explain?

This is perfect.

I loved it. Okay, I didn't quite warm to Lucy's character (which is surely part of the point, no?) but a small part of me cheered at the casting. The acting was superb, the twists were brilliant and I laughed and jumped at several points. And all the little easter eggs contained within were brilliant - I'll be rewatching Sherlock soon for one.

Near Carmarthen

Detectives are understood to be baffled this morning after the writer of BBC’s ‘Dracula’ vanished up his own arse.

The incident is believed to have occurred at about 9:30pm last night, during the broadcast of the last episode of the series entitled ‘What the f*** is this?’.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the event, which coincided with the adventures of The Lord of the Un-Dead irrevocably turning into an episode of Hollyoaks directed by Quentin Tarantino.

“It’s a proper mystery,” we were told by an honest, salt of the earth copper of the sort who can’t investigate trails of corpses or find an eternal mass murderer who lists himself in the Yellow Pages as ‘Dr. A. Cula’.

“A real ‘ead scratcher. It’s that Mister Gatiss, sir. Vanished, ‘e ‘as. Right up ‘is own bum.

“Gor blimey, an’ that Mister Moffat too. Both of ‘em at once.

“It ‘ad all been goin’ so well, what wiv superlative performances by Claes Bang an’ Dolly Wells, but even they was not enough to heave the two writers out of their own derrieres.

“A tragedy an’ no mistake.”

A reward has been offered for information aiding in the rescue of the writers, including a copy of the original book – an offer met with surprise by people involved in the show who didn’t know there was one.

"Dracula on Skype, with his solicitor!!! "

I was really annoyed with the solicitor just popping in, getting right inside the high security facility.

1 and 2 were excellent, number 3 just confused me as if it was produced by a different person, lots of pointless fillers in it, ending rushed in fact I can't remember the last scene at all. Loved the van helsing actress she had me gripped in 1 and 2.
