Not talking about messaging from the forums or chat rooms, but a totally random guy.

How many messages do you get from guys you've never spoken to?

And how many do you reply to? (Not including all the ones you turn down)

10 to 1? 1000 to 1?

I only ask because of all the people I've met, I've met from the forums. I've never met anyone from just messaging

Hmmm, I reply to very few, but when I do it's mainly when I'm due on and they've come across all entitled and expectant with a lack of respect.

All of my meets have been from messages. Never met anyone from forums & I rarely message anyone first. It’s the content of the messages that catch my attention. I don’t reply to standard hi, wuu2, fancy some fun, free now?, wanna meet etc etc. I also don’t reply to generic copy & paste bullshit. If a message is made personal to me it’s more likely to get my attention x

Like yeah if they put any effort in - I like to think my profile looks good enough and I spent time and effort getting it like that, I like swinging, the lifestyle etc and then you get these shit messages like "nice boobs" or "any nye plans" and you click the profile and it's got nothing on it, why would you bother??!!

Ok at the minute I have 77 unread messages which are a mixture of forum and non forum users. How many of the non forum users I will respond to will depend on whether I know them already and if I don’t, their profile / message. I have deleted and not responded to about the same number today

I'd say on average 5 messages a day.

we reply on average to about 1 out of five of those

every one we reply to positively we intend to meet.

I'd say about half of our replies are to say thanks but no thanks

I probably get 10-30 forum related messages a day ... I mostly reply to all of those... But out of politeness, not with a view to meeting

I currently have over 500 unread messages in my mailbox which are all non-forum related. It's really rare that i would reply to these... And yet the guy I'm currently meeting got in contact this way... So always hope??

1) On my single profile, can be 50-100 daily. On couple profile, can be 5-10 daily. This is, of course, when guys aren't blocked from messaging. Only the odd few message after seeing me in the forums as I do recognise names etc. but more fab pics instead.

2) Mostly guys are blocked so when they're not blocked, it means I'm / we're happy to see if a guy peaks interest. Can't give a number but it's maybe only 5% of overall messages received.

I am not looking to fuck a new guy every day so this suits me.

I rarely have my filters down but if on a rare occasion where I forget why I had them activated and decide to lower the defenses I can get up to 300 messages in a day from single men. Most of what I'd call spam too. I vehemently dislike the process of reading them, feeling obliged to respond when I don't want to.

In that 300 there may be 1 that stands out as a potential gem which I want to respond to.

So, back to filters activated and me sending the first message is just all round best for my sanity : )

I guess I get about 30 messages a day . Majority are people I have met before that are keeping in touch. I would say around 10 are new men. I reply to any that have read my profile and sent a decent message...not a one line or cut and paste. So possibly half on a good day will get a reply.

I am not looking for new meets at the moment, but am happy to chat or reply to queries. Most of my messages are not related to the forums. I have only met a couple of people from the forums. My meets have been from club's recently, but I have met loads from basic messaging, some for socials, some to help get verified and some for play .

I had 48 messages yesterday, 6 of those were from forum posts or people i've already chatted to.

I replied to 7 of those messages - only one of those was someone I didn't know and wasn't from the forums. His message was polite and personal to me, which caused me to look at his profile...I liked what I saw, so I replied. If I hadn't found him attractive or didn't like his profile I wouldn't have replied.

The rest of the messages were just the usual drivel and one liners that didn't even inspire me to look at the profiles, never mind respond.

I've met some from the forums but most of mine came from just messaging. I use to try and answer every message but I can't anymore so now anyone who manages to get pasty filters gets deleted. I've over 60 messages there at the moment that I haven't answered as I'm too busy in work and am answering the people I want to meet or have met already. I'll try and get around to looking at the other messages at some point. And my filters are pretty tight so I don't get as many messages as others do.

I try to reply to all, even if just to say no thanks. Maybe two of those will peak my interest enough to “chat” with a view to meeting.

I don’t send out messages. I don’t meet men from the forum (with one exception, he was local). Most of my daily messages are from regular men i chat to and local men unless i upload a vid or new photo when men from further afield pop up.

We had a lovely social with a single guy last night that just messaged us and doesn’t use the forums.

We have a play date with another on Wednesday that I’m sure wasn’t from the forums and we had a lovely 3sum earlier on in the month that definitely wasn’t from the forums although that was my response to a wink.

The amount of messages I get varies massively. At the moment, maybe 10-20 a day, when I have my face as my profile photo it can be 10 times that. I maybe reply to 1 or 2 a day, because most are just twats or I'm in a foul mood and don't want to talk to anyone.

I never had an unsolicited message responded to except to see my profile blocked in my first 4 years on Fab. I used the chat rooms but they were like the Wild West really. I did get my first meet with a woman on the site through them. It took nearly 4 years to happen. I did have a bj meet with a bloke after he messaged me and my curiosity got the better of me. When I finally discovered the forum I found a new way to present myself on the site. I now rarely send an unsolicited message and have had the odd reply but none have led anywhere. The only people I have met have been on the back of them messaging me because of my forum presence. Even on the forum I’m more likely not to send the first message, albeit I have done it more often. When I send the first message it generally goes no further than the first interaction.

I probably get 10-30 forum related messages a day ... I mostly reply to all of those... But out of politeness, not with a view to meeting

Any the wiser ?

I did get my first meet with a woman on the site through them. It took nearly 4 years to happen. I did have a bj meet with a bloke after he messaged me and my curiosity got the better of me. When I send the first message it generally goes no further than the first interaction.

I very rarely send a message if at all. I think it works best from a single males perspective if you are approached first, a wink works for me and I put that in my profile. Saves a lot of messing about.

I've met lots of gents from the forum, but an equal amount from messages (or who've fabbed my photos). Sure, I delete the lazy "how's you" messages, but I'll always reply to someone who's made an effort to read my profile and try to engage. It's always worth a try, OP

I'm so glad guys message, particularly those local to me as it saves me time looking for someone. In fact, in all the years I've been here, I've never sent a message to meet. I get about 60-90 messages daily and if I put a new pic up that can be up to 500+

I do reply to some people if they have read my profile but, tbh, nearly all are binned. I don't meet guys from The Forums apart from Social anymore.

I used to regularly send (I hope) well crafted personal messages to single women where it looked hopeful. The number of replies were so low I now rarely do, although will send a shorter one occasionally. More success from responding to forum posts but still not loads of responses. I just accept that I am not that even being able to write in full sentences and being polite doesn’t make me that special!

We respond to the majority of our messages, only one meet has resulted from a forumite messaging us, all other meets were the product of "out of the blue" messages

Respond to 99% of my messages and all my meets are from non forum messages (though I did used to go in the SW chatroom and have socially met all the "locals" in there too!)

A very very small fab population actually use the forums so how do you think people not using clubs (again a small proportion a fab) actually meet?

None of my meets have been as a result of a forum post.

I have tight filters but still get about 5 messages a day from men I don’t know. I usually answer all that are more than a sentence long (unless there’s a dick pic attached, then I don’t bother).

Ive met just two from their initial first message to me that weren't from the forum. Thats in over 2 yrs worth of messages.

Im only a consequential meeter rather than an active one though. Ive spoken to lots of lovely people that has just never quite tipped over into meeting just because of my reluctance really.

About 50 a day if I'm online. Can be more at weekends.

When I get round to clearing out my inbox I might respond to maybe about 5. All my meets with guys in the past year have been people I have messaged first though.

Most I met weren't from the forums as not many local women using them and I was also more fussy than a single guy on fab should be.

Quite a few I did meet then started using the forums afterwards as I told them about them.

I got most meets from getting in men's hot pics and recieving messages off the back of that rather than messaging women first.

We've never met anyone from the forums. We usually do the chasing, but we have definitely met guys who've messaged us out of the blue on more than one occasion. I couldn't tell you the figures though, most messages are the "how r u sexy" kind so it's a straight delete.

So the answer to your question is - if you send a decent message which you can strike up a conversation with - yes, it can be worth messaging. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Op if it’s helpful (I’m not sure), however when I’m online on my single profile I can get around 20-30 messages within an hour or so of being on line.

Most get deleted as they are simply “hi wanna meet for a fuck” from guys with dick pic Avis and contain a plethora of dick pics. Some have also told me I shouldn’t be on fab unless I’m willing to meet straight away.

I’ve had men offering to pay me, buy me cars and other such gifts, I’ve had men telling me, yes actually telling me they are going to get me pregnant.

I’ve had other Men explain to me in great detail what they WILL do to me, before even asking my name.

That’s around 25/30 of the messages.

They get deleted. I’m more than happy with a message along the lines of “ hi, saw your profile here’s a couple of “normal” pictures let me know what you think. You’ll get a reply wether yes, no or maybe. How long will that reply take, I can’t answer that because it depends what else is going on in my life, I might not go on line for a month, sometimes every day.

It’s hard to define an answer for you, due to some of the reasons listed.

Think of fab for women (wether on a couples or singles profile) as a seal swimming round in a sea of starving sharks and once in a blue moon a dolphin shows up.

I’ve wrote in my profile “please no dick pics” but they cometh in their plenty, that really is my biggest turn off to be fair.

On our couples profile we have single guys blocked for that reason too.

Our male half doesn’t send dick pics when he messages and has quite a few replies back.

Above all though it’s a swingers site aimed at swingers meeting other swingers.

I find it hard to find the motivation to do so, I just can't be bothered trying to find the attraction.

I think it's why I quite like the forums, you get to see a bit of personality and can tell if someone is likely to match your humour etc.

See whilst I enjoy the forums and chat, most are people I have met through club scene or socials and kept in contact with

A lot of people won’t meet me because I do club scene / hotels and I don’t accommodate.

So rather than feel rejected by email, I know check if couple or female is in London / south east or Manchester. If neither then chances are I won’t message. I will often hotlist to see if they will ever come and if they do brilliant

I find that I have more luck in person, and I have been told my photos don’t do me justice. So I keep to club scene

Not for me, but then I'm not meeting men for sex.

That doesn't stop me getting an average of one a day sending me really random messages.

If I got a lot of crap, I would probably put my filters back up but I do get nice interesting messages too.

I actually reply to call my messages. I often don't get replies to my responses to the more dire initial messages

Its messed up but I think that's much of the issue I've seen a lot of unnecessarily rude people on here in terms of how they present themselves on their profiles & some how they present themselves in the forums

As part of the plankton, I find writing introductory messages only to see them deleted unread, or being blanked, a bit disheartening. Sure, I get that nobody is owed a reply and that it simply means 'no thanks', but it does leave me feeling a bit worthless nonetheless... so I just can't bring myself to do it any more.

Trouble is, I'm so crap at all this communication stuff that I tend to screw up even when things seem to be going okay - which makes me wonder if I'm part of the reason why all people like me are avoided... sorry guys.
