Have you ever met someone from here while out and about in public ? Did they say anything ? Would it annoy you if they referred to fab?

Brighton - even Hove!

I saw a lady in costa and recognised her tattoo and as I walked out i said ‘fab tattoo’ and she grinned. Normally, if I saw someone I recognised, I’d not say a word.

Yeah, a guy who works in Tesco spotted me. Sent me a message to ask if he could chat next time, I said no, I’m anxious as fuck

So what does he do? Comes up to me while I’m pregnant and with my two sisters (15 and 11 at the time) and starts chatting about fab. My husband steers my sisters and I away, and I go have a panic attack in the bathroom.

He always tries chatting when I’m there now

I've recognised people and been recognised by folk in public, but it doesn't occur to me to say anything. People's lives are their own, I guess.

Plus I don't have the proper confidence in my own words to say, like, "Hey, fab sweater!" without sounding like a right flump irl.

No but i've been seen.

Once by my postbox looking like death and he messaged me to say he'd seen me

Once I was in a car with rellies and never noticed the other bloke..... he too messaged me to tell me he'd seen me.

Once again I was in a car and got a message saying .. 'Just seen you.Where do you work?'

I've never seen anyone from here.

Once saw someone from another site though as he told me where he worked and I happened to have to go there one time ( my friend not me ) . He'd never seen me so I just watched him at work thinking .......fuck this is weird i'm glad it's not the other way around. I never mentioned who I was.

But I do get seen pretty often. I remember me and C took our dogs for a big walk around town and I had seven different men message me to say they saw me. Three of them verified me. I didn’t spot any of them.

I even bumped into one guy who I had been chatting to. He has cute chihuahuas and my husband spotted them and said ‘oh babe look you’ll love them’ so I went over to see the dogs without seeing who had them.

I didn’t know he was married and me and C stood for ten mins chatting to him and his wife.

A lady who came to stay with me for a couple of nights had arranged a social (we went 10 pin bowling) with another lady off here. Several weeks later I spotted her in town doing a spot of shopping, she was on her own, so I waited for her to come out of the shop and we ended up going for a couple of drinks and something to eat

Wouldn't have done that had she been with someone though

I went to Halfords to pick up a car stereo I had ordered and behind the counter was the cute guy who had messaged earlier in the week...

I never mentioned Fab and he never recognised me.

I would never dream of saying anything to people I recognise in town, I wouldn't like to be approached so I offer the same courtesy, especially with him being at work. You don't mess with people's jobs that is a line not to be crossed

I have recognised a few local guys from Fab I have chatted too, always get a cursory nod or quick acknowledgement which is fine, but hate for a public declaration

Jesus.

A few years ago I had to pop out to Tesco, quite late at night, like half 10/11. I got home and I'd received a message from a blank profile asking if I was at a specific place at a specific time, which I was and it scared the crap out of me. Since then I've never had a face photo up on here and the postcode that I use is for an entirely different town/city.

I think some people just don't think or have any social skills on here.

H has had a few give the knowing smile while out, usually with the kids so they've kept quiet & just walked on by.

There was one really hot woman who kept looking & smiling as we crossed trolleys in ASDA but she was with her elderly mum & we the kids. We were hoping she might message when home but never happened. P'haps she wasn't on here & just fancied us anyway who knows

Bit difficult not being spotted really with H's hair, but as long as no one actually approaches when she/we have the kids we dont mind.

Pretty much everyone important knows we have a GF & some know we are on here anyway.

We see local fabbers all the time. Mostly ships pass by, but sometimes eye contact is made so a nod and (hopefully) a friendly smile. There have been a couple of occasions where we spotted someone in Asda and sent a cheeky message, then had a meet before putting the milk in the fridge lol.

I've never met anyone from fab in everyday life and if I did, I wouldn't say anything. I wouldn't want them to either, I'd think they were overstepping.

Agreed,

Thing is the social skills of many here are poor & to think those same poor social skills are any different off of here is a bit daft.

Only person ever to approach us both when we had kids with us was a guy & he blatantly approached H directly. She just looked to me at the same time he did. She said if looks could kill he would have burst into flames on the spot. He quickly said "Sorry" & scooted off..

Still don't know who the hell it was though..

"I don’t get all this awkwardness of people being civil and polite when meeting others in public, anyone is free to say hi to us, so long as they are discreet and don’t mention fab if we are with others.

Some people don’t get discretion sadly!"

A lot don't

I'm on the flip side of the coin. I play hockey and there is a girl on here who plays for one of the woman's teams of a club I used to play for.

Never said anything on here or at the club and I never would. Wouldn't be fair for either of us.

As per a similar thread we've know two couples that we've recognised from this site, basically because both had face pics on their profiles.

We don't know whether they've identified us, we don't have face pics, but we have met at local business events and shared tables at the local business awards.

However, the subject of Fab never came up and no 'knowing looks' surfaced do we guess all our secrets are safe!

I've often thought about this. I've spotted quite a few from here whilst out & about but never approached them.

Not even messaged them after to say that I've seen them as that seems about stalkery to me.

It's a tricky one.
