He is just another manufactured comedian with a good marketing and PR team around him who also happens to use his "local accent" to his benefit.

"Yes. Just pseudo comedy intellects say otherwise. It’s hard to say he’s not funny. Not all of it but he is a funny dude. "

Indeed. Genius may be pushing it but his comedy is genuinely funny, especially compared to the majority of comedians past and present.

Most people have a limited sense of humour and are unable to appreciate comedy across the board.

I'd say he's more of an entrepreneur. He's managed to take his life experiences and exaggerate a northern stereotype. He's also emotionally intelligent and knows how to 'play' an audience.

I like him a lot. I'd never pay to see to see him tho. Does that say anything.

Am I the only person who finds Sian Gibson fucking irritating ?

Where ever he is , what ever he's doing I want him to be happy. People should stop waiting for another slice..... he's given enough already.

"Is he a comedy genius? I say yes...what about you?"

No.

Some of his comedy is funny, but I think to describe him as a genius is rather OTT.

Comedy is also a very personal thing.

I have found some of his TV shows funny, like Car Share (which he wasn't a major writer on) and sometimes Poenix Nights. I sat stone-faced through the X Factor spoof he did. I have never found any of his stand-up routines funny. I'd say he is fair-to-middling but not a genius. Luke

I really love some of his observational humour, I’m sure we can all relate to that. However I saw him live and it was all too contrived and staged and so I was disappointed.

His misheard song lyrics is good but he’s no comedic genius, he just pumps out the same rehashed stuff.

I used to wonder why he never did panel shows such as Mock The Week and then I kind of realised why: he's good at telling jokes and funny stories, but he's not very witty. Lee Mack is witty, he can hit you with a quick and funny reply seconds after someone speaks. But I never really got that impression with Peter Kay.

Certainly more amusing than Miranda Hart (not difficult), but just a bit shouty with a northern accent in general.

Excellent purveyor of colloquial observational comedy but a genius spans the full range of humour.

Care share was funny as it was so simple in its content and delivery.

I'm originally from Bolton so I recognise some of the things he talks about. I also used to go to Working Men's clubs as a teenager so Phoenix Nights was spot on, only thing missing was pie and peas after the bingo

Car Share was also enjoyable but I'm not a massive fan of his stand up, it's too samey for me.

Saw Dave Spikey live in Salford and he died, just not funny at all. Which was a big shame as I really like the guy

Thought Mickey was funny until I saw his stand up over the holiday.

Desperation springs to mind, has he fallen out with his script writer?

His material was shocking.
