It's that thing you either love it or hate it but me well I just love being in the countryside.

It may be a bit wet and muddy but to be able to wake up to peace and quiet is such a pleasure.

I lived countryside. .had horses, cattle etc..now live small village by the sea but everyday I work is up close and very personal with nature..I manage the countryside. ..couldn't work any other way

I turn left out of my door and walk for ten minutes and I'm in a small city centre. Turn right and walk for ten minutes and I'm in the countryside. I'm fortunate that much of my work is also in the country..

South Wales

I don’t live in the Countryside as such, but a small Valley surrounded by (small) mountains and large rolling hills. It can look bleak when the mist comes down and it rains (and boy does it rain!) but it looks epic in the Summer, all dramatic and green.

We have lots of Nature Reserves and Forestry walks. I like that about this area, the space and the quiet, when you want it. Right on the doorstep.

I lived off-grid in the SW then moved to a small town in the Lakes. A couple of years ago I came to the city and everyone thought I was mad but it suits me the best for now. I can get into green spaces easily while benefitting from the culture and vitality of the city.

Aww I like eerie. Plus i take my dog with me so there is always the sound of panting to break the silence (mine not his - he’s a fast mover!)

Watching Worzel today made us realise there is something we miss of North Essex.

Golden fields of arable crops, we backed directly onto fields back there. The typical church spire on the hill in the distance etc. No fence, just out the back door walk twenty feet & your in the fields.

Here it’s a 100ft or so wide levelled area with our house plonked on it. Come outside & you either go up the mountain or down to the valley & we are surrounded by trees.

Definitely or just the sound of a car going past in the distance but nothing, it was Xmas day though.

Taking the hound out for his last wee all we hear are the resident owls.

I'm surrounded by hills and moorland. It's pretty spectacular at the top. I like discovering new paths and seeing my little dog in his happy place tramping through streams then jumping through the grass. Who knew I'd be a country girl after all those years by the sea?

I live in a fairly small town and am right on the edge. 5 minutes walk till I'm in open countryside. In the summer I sometimes catch the train a couple of stops from work and can walk or run 10 miles in beautiful countryside to get home. I love it. Moving here was such a good decision

I'm lucky to live surrounded by countryside, up in the hills, a small village, not even a shop.

To wake up every morning and see the place anew delights me.

City living I could never go back there.

I grew up on a farm and spent many years living in a rural village before moving to York for work. Love the countryside and still go for long walks in it as much as possible. Luckily where I am in York is only a short walk out into the country as well, I'm not much of a city person but can tolerate it as York is very different to most other UK cities.

Just supping a coffee and waiting for the sun to rise on the Moelwyn mountains. It's a pain having a 1.5 hr drive to the nearest swinger club, but great living in nature amongst forest, streams and waterfalls. And to not to have to bother with clothes.

I used to own a house near porthmadog loved it there. You are right I think an hour and a half to Chameleons with a heavy right foot!

In Devon I live on the edge of Dartmoor and in Cornwall, near the Lizard. I cannot think in tight urban spaces and develop "city jitters", once I lived in London, New York, Islamabad and Moscow, but I could never return to an urban life.

Now I have peace and a cozy home or two for friends and family to visit, the pace suits my age and the sights please my eyes

Haha, We have kids & their friends come over so wear clothes, However we’ve been here a year nearly & yet to put up curtains in any room bar the ones on the patio doors in the lounge just for cosy ness.

No neighbours in window range so no need for curtains, I wake up watching the squirrels & crows in the trees

Currently snuggled up in our touring caravan on the North Yorkshire Moors. Tranquil and beautiful. Wildest part of the day was taking the puppy out fur a walk up to the Settle-Carlisle railway line.

1 hours drive and we can be in a city, or just over an hour and at the coast.

We are very lucky to live in AONB.

So true. Livestock can be bloody noisy at night, never mind hanging bells off them. Screaming foxes, barking badgers, farting horses....
