Great Opening letters

Okay advice required again. What makes a good opening letter. I read the profile i try and find like points we can bond on. I rarely get replys from opening letters and wonder is it better ettiquete to wink first. My last attempt was pretty bad tbh. The recipient blocked me. Dont blame them i would have blocked me too. However usually im a little more in the ball park and can be very charming..what opening letters do you like to recieve.
