Still so full of cold and feeling really shitty. My daughter has taken over most of the cooking, under my guidance.

I literally can’t smell anything cos my nose is so blocked.

I’m so broke this year the kids usual mountain of pressies consisted of just 5 each and the boys have both been upstairs since opening them.

My own mother didn’t even buy me a pressie for some unknown reason.

Currently watching a movie with my daughter feeling like I just want to go back to bed and sleep for a week.

Oh and I’ve got an assignment due in tomorrow that still needs another 400 words on it and I really just can’t be bothered

First world problems I know, and there’s so many people in a way worse position than me.

I’m just being a grumpy arse.

Manchester (he/him)

That sounds rather hard and crappy OP. I've been in similar situations with my kids and home life, obviously being ill exacerbates any negative feelings that you have.

I hope that I'm not being presumptuous in offering a little advice...

Have you spoken to them about what's going on? When I can't do things with my kids or afford things, I explain the situation and invest my time so they understand and know that it's not them, it's just life. If you explain the situation and talk, I've found things are much clearer all around.

I'm not trying to be patronising here and my apologies if I am being. I hope things are better for you

London St Helier Trier

Round the corner is a big fit of giggles prompted by a lovely memory or one of your kids.

The mood will lift and all will seem achievable.

The spicy dish will start to clear your sinus and yes a tap running but taking out all the crap.

By the deadline you will feel you can do anything.

Then thoughts will turn to 2020. Remember that elusive thing on your bucket list, yep that one, you will think on that and a very polite person will reach out to you and they might be the one to do that with.

Happy swinging in 2020.
