Somewhere In The Ether…

Often overlooked whenever folk talk about their favourite musicians.

So my good people: Who in your opinion are the greatest, most pioneering synth masters?

Off you go

Mmmm tricky

Well probably kraftwork as possibly one of the pioneers of this genre and still going to this day.

Also big shout to Vince Clarke who lets face it kinda cornered the market at one stage.

Kraftwerk, ahead of their time and paved the way for later artists in this genre.

Must say I was a massive massive electro funk and early hip hop fan in early 80's

So loads and loads of non mainstream influences.

Afrika bambatta and the soul sonic force.

Synth based electro funk hip hop rap fusion mix.

Somewhere In The Ether…

For me, as has already been mentioned, Jean Michel Jarre.

From hearing the mere very first ethereal like note on his Oxygene album, one just knew that the work was going to be something quite amazing and it truly was.

Was lucky enough to go to his Docklands show back in ‘88 despite the crap weather it was still awesome

Keith Emerson & Rik Wakeman - got to love a bit of, full on, overblown Prog Rock

Kraftwork and Numan. A lot of the early 80s synth bands ran out of steam but in there day Human League and Depeche Mode were excellent

Jean Michel Jarre. Without equal.

Or Billie Currie from Ultravox and Tubeway Army/Visage.
