My true love gave to me ......

The 1st of December.

It's the beginning of Advent. It's when Christmas preparations begin.

Supermarkets might have begun flogging Xmas merchandise as early as September, but autumn brings harvest festivals, Halloween and Guy Fawkes night.

Christmas should never begin before the first day of Advent.
