"same with food. Some people genuinely can't drink due to medication etc Some people genuinely can't eat mince pies due to dietary requirements. However the startling lack of tolerance shown on here towards certain slightly off the norm predilections doesn't lead me to believe that the Christmas insistence will stop. " No. I was teetotal for 25 years and had to resort to telling one extremely insistent person that I was in recovery to get them to back off. I wasn't but they were relentless.

"also while we're on the subject and now you've wound me right up . If you want to dance, great, enjoy it, shake yer booty, cut a rug, throw some shapes but if someone says they don't want to leave them alone. Don't try and drag them up to the dance floor or tell them they're a kill joy. aaand breathe " Sorry! 'Tis the season stuff seems to give people licence to jolly everyone on to personal misery.

"Well said! I’ll get that tonight at a party but I don’t want to beholden to £20 for a taxi there and back or a hangover tomorrow " And it's fuck all anyone else's business anyway.

"Spare a thought for the stress and pressure you put on non-drinkers with your jolly insistence that one drink won't harm them. Accept that no when given. It's not stopping you from having your drink. Christmas responsibly. Great post! I was called all sorts at our works do because I refused to drink... It is a shame that going out and getting bladdered is a predominant feature of going out No, I have lived with the effects of what alchohol does and watched people close to me battle their demons and lose, I believe alchohol is far more dangerous than any class A drug out there because it is legal so readily available " I agree but we have a culture of fun = alcohol. And I don't judge people for their alcohol consumption, except when they get in a car or become violent. Anyone glancing at my shelves would assume I drink a lot!

"All who are pestered, carry some baking soda in small zip lock bag, and a tambourine and copy of war cry, then depending on the character of the offender say "come on one line or one sermon wont hurt, its Christmas" To each their own, have fun, but remember willing consent goes beyond sex! " The Tea video is just as relevant here too. A friend was insistently offered "edibles" at a thing recently. The person offering did not understand the refusal at all.

"Just brought 48 cans and loads of rum and but enjoy yours responsibly x" 48 cans of lemonade Non alcoholic rum for you

"I'm a stubborn bitch, so if I say no and someone tries to pressure me it just makes that no 100 times more vehement. Thankfully I tend not to socialise with people who don't take no for an answer, but I feel for those who do get that pressure." Sometimes the pressure comes in the passive aggressive labelling.

"Just brought 48 cans and loads of rum and but enjoy yours responsibly x 48 cans of lemonade Non alcoholic rum for you " I bought a bottle of Rummish (and one of Ginnish) for a cocktail night so that a friend would be able to join in with the same type of cocktail the rest of us were having.

I've had a similar experience explaining I don't do anal. *Nodding emoji*

"It'll also be great when non drinkers will accept that it's perfectly possible to enjoy a drink now and then without having a drink problem, and without getting completely trollied. It works both ways. I can sometimes feel the disgust when I dare to suggest I like a wine or two... and sometimes even a whole bottle!!" I agree. I haven't experienced as much cajoling and passive aggression from non-drinkers as I have from drinkers, though.

It really doesn't impact my time so why should I care? I find it all rather odd behaviour.
