Kids making anti social behave vids

So theres a new vid been posted on the net with upto 100 youths storming into Mc Donalds in Wigan town centre and starting a riot. Threatening and abusing staff and some jumping the counter to steal food etc etc. All filmed and posted on youtube. GMP have identified many of the young trouble makers and have already started making arrests in the local area and are expected to make more arrests over the next few days and weeks to come.

Are we bringing up our kids these days to think that this kind of thing is the norm the or what?. I hate to sound old but when I was a lad this sort of thing did not happen as people had much more respect did they not?. Maybe one or two of these young kids were reeled in and went along with the crowd but this footage really is shocking and a total dissregard and lack of respect from start to finish as they harrass and cheer at the terrified staff in the store.

Your thoughts please??

What worries me more is that these feckin eejits are too stoopid to realise that filming oneself getting up to skullduggery provides the police with all the evidence needed to secure a prosecution.

youtube have now taken the wise descision to remove the offensive video but GMP have it and all the evidence they need to identify and charge

It is crazy tho that in this day and age people think that this kind of thing is ok to do in the first place

They are that stupid, hope the police get everyone of them. I know if one of my family was envolved I be dragging they to station.

The courts need to show that this sort of thing is not going to be taken lightly.

Respect yourself, your family and your community, these muppets do not and has such should not be in the community

I agree (working in schools) that kids are getting worse these days (and yes i know im not long out of the "kid" zone myself) BUT I think there are a LOT of young people that get tarred with the same brush, which just isnt fair. When I saw the video in question on a newspaper's website, all i could think of was that it reminded me of football hooligans.....which are usually middle aged men....so where are the kids getting this behaviour from? I know schools get a lot of knocks and some kids are just bad, theres nothing you can do about it but I have to say that 75% of the problems that the kids at school have can easily be traced back to their parents. As I say not always the case, but it is in general. I'm blaming "chav culture"!!!

The issue is a complete lack of respect, for their parents, for the police, for their communities and for themselves.

Even in a reletively small prosperous town like mine we have street rats who totally disrespect everything.

I have to say I blame society in general, we are fast becoming a society of too many do gooders, there is no deterent anymore, police dont have the power they used too, I was frightened of my local copper when I grew up, now the street rats just hurl abuse and the police dont do anything because they simply dont have the resources and the time to deal with all the red tape health and safety and human rights bollocks! If these little shits dont act like humans then they should not have the same rights as one!!

Sorry but I also blame the parents, if you are responsible enough to have a child then you are responsible enough to teach them right from wrong! Like a previous comment, if it were one of mine I would be marching them down the police station myself with a list of all their mates names and addresses too!

This country is going down the pan, we need to get real and deal with this antisocial behavior harshly, I for one would happily pay another couple of pence income tax to combat it and build more prisons, actually put another % on VAT instead of income tax to catch the benefit scammers (which lets be honest are the ones rioting) and get them to contribute to society rather than bleed it dry!

I was going to add something along the same lines of that but no need as you have pretty much summed up my exact thboughts on the matter so I agree with your views on this 100%.

I must say tho as a Wigan lad my self it was shocking to watch the video footage in question as apart from the disgrace of the kids in question I also felt some shame for the town in which I live. Some comfort perhaps to say well its not just Wigan its all over the country but then again there in lays the problem and I must say as people have above its got to start with the home and parents and then also give back the powers to people in authority like school teachers etc etc to bring back some diclipline to kids

Whilst I wouldn't blame parents for a childs behaviour, I would say that the way they react to their childs behaviour certainly affects whether or not it is repeated.

My brother in law is a taxi driver.

Last week he had a group of school age teens attempt to do 'a runner'.

Now he starts at 6am, so what were a group of school kids doing out at that time in a morning anyway (they were coming home, not going out).

Anyway, one of the group (a girl) wasn't quick enough and he stopped her from making her exit and sat her in the back of the cab until the police were called.

Other than resisting her attempts to flee the scene of the crime (whatever way you look at it, it amounts to theft), he never touched her.

However, he was later in the day faced with the girls mother coming into the office, screaming and bawling at him and calling him 'a paedo'.

Her little princess obviously couldn't do anything wrong and it was totally his fault that she was in such a state of upset.

Nothing at all to do with the fact that her daughter and her mates thought it would be funny to rob a man of his wages !

So whilst the mother didn't encourage her daughter to become a thief, she certainly did little (on the surface of it) to prevent a repeat occurence.

Exactly... in cases such as this then child benefit should be stopped! Then I am sure the parents wouldnt have any problem knocking sense into the little fekkers!!!

When 'We' were young, we were scared of being caught and punished, so we mainly behaved...

What do you have now, repeated cautions and warnings, no punishment, inconvenient, embarrassed and having to go without due to paying off a fine...

A punishment serves two things; to punish them what they did and very importantly, a deterrent to others...

Too right, whats the point of a fine if they pay a frigging £1 then it gets written off in 2 years time!! As said before too many do gooders in this country. These parasites on society need to be dealt with swiftly and firmly, although i dont necessarily agree with cutting hands off for stealing I do agree an eye for an eye, steal something worth £200 then the fine is £200 plus court costs dont pay up within 6 months then fine doubled, not paid up in 12 months then prison for minimum of 6 months and no early releases (and dont get me started on the prison system, cells should be overcrowded and have buckets in the corner not frigging ensuite hotel rooms with flat screen TV's)!!! Grrrr I wish I was home secretary!

Its a case of monkey see, monkey do.

A bunch of morons will film themselves doing something they consider brave and daring, this in turn will generate another bunch of morons who think they can do it on a bigger, better scale.

The difference is, these days almost everyone records what they do, either FB, Twitter, Youtube etc. The world is full of exhibitionists and voyeurs and we are guilty of it somewhere along the line.

No matter if its a good thing or bad thing people record, it will get broadcast more or less instantly, its the technology at our finger tips that makes everything we do available for all to see.

There has always been gangs, be them the old ton up boys, football hooligans or hoodies. The only difference being that at one time it was word of mouth that spread the wrong doings and took months to get around, now its done straight away using net etc.

It will always happen because its a rite of passage as teenagers grow up.

The only thing we can change is the lack of discipline and the way people are being too soft on the younger generations.

Its all about where your bought up i think

Im not from dudley i just moved here a few years ago with work, where i lived before was a small farming village in the middle of nowhere where everyone knew each other and your mum always knew what you was upto because one foot out of line and it would get back to her and you'd be in trouble

Round here parents dont seem to care, so long as the kids are out the house and not under their feet they dont care what they doing, if you dare to knock on the door to tell them little jimmys dont something wrong all you get is abuse from the parents, so theres no wonder the kids are the way they are

I have worked in many areas thro work and ive seen lots of different types of communities and you deffo seem to find trouble making kids do tend to all live on the same estates and are all bought up together with the same type of up bringing

Of course thats not 100% any kids can go wrong but over all you do seem to find its the case

i agree, i have an 11 year old daughter and shes not allowed out the house alone, i dont even allow her to the shop thats 3 doors away alone, where i live its normal to see pre school kids on the park alone, but because theres a lot of drugs and trouble with gangs of kids where i live i want to know where mine is all the time, she does getting picked on because of it and all the local mums call me a snob and ive had abouse shouted at me because i wont let my daughter out to mix with their kids but all that does it makes me realise why i dont wanty my daughter mixing with these people

im far from a snob and yes it bothers be my daughter gets made fun of by the local kids because shes not allowed out the house at 11 but im more bothered about knowing shes safe and not upto no good, it can be hard at times but we just have to do our best

I havent seen the video in question but can imagine it the problem with the idiots in question filming it and getting caught is that they will now have a celebrity status for want of a better word amongst their peers as they have been on the news in papers and on youtube. Yes the police will arrest them and they will be give asbos however these again are a badge of honour and worn with pride this is modern britain unfortunately. Yob culture is growing and is not just amongst the youth of today there are older people too such as football hooligans the rioters in london and other parts of the country it is an epidemic unfortunatel with no detterent
