I (Luke) worked in the gambling industry for one year. It made me sick to my stomach.

Their job is to convince people they stand a chance of winning whilst loading the odds against them. In the company I worked for, all the salaries, buildings, company cars, subsidised restaurant, company parties, and everything else was paid for by people losing bets. It made me think how few people must have won by comparison.

The only reason I did it was because I was desperate for a job and I would have gone to the wall otherwise. I still feel ashamed that I had anything to do with it.

To be fair to her, from what i've read- since taking control of the family business, she's expanded it from a small number of local shops to one of the biggest global betting companies.

If she's built the success, she should get a decent percentage of profit from it.
