Aldi mince pie fan here too! Lovely in an afternoon with a lovely cuppa or hot chocolate in an evening.

Oh I feel your pain - I’m Celiac and have to have gluten free everything. Such a pain and so restricting at times.

I read the other day mince pies are illegal in England - some law from yesteryear that was never axed.

Love'em but the best are the Aldi ones with sloe gin, once that pack is open they don't last long at all

This usually attributed to Oliver Cromwell - that and the banning of Christmas - which is not quite true

At time Cromwell rise to power England was in the grip of the Puritan movement - Christmas was a time of quiet reflection not celebration and if you were caught celebrating you could find yourself in hot water.

There has one day that it has been illegal to eat mince pies - cant remember the year but we're talking 400yrs or so back when there was an enforced fasting that happened to be on 25 Dec - the finer details are a bit hazy.

So enjoy your mince pies because I do

I know - but I'm back on nights, he's on days and we're desperately trying to get our Christmas shopping done. At this rate Mr KC will have any empty sack

Definitely a ‘yay’ - but homemade for me. (I discovered a BBC Good Food recipe last year and it’s amazing!)
