"Am I the only one that's noticed in American TV movies and series that military personnel are treated by the public like demi gods or something? I'm curious is that the real case abroad or is it just laid on thick for TV. If American soldiers are treated with so much respect over there, then why is it so different over here?do the British public treat anyone the world over with respect? "

"That's a good point actually I guess it's rare to see anyone go about their normal day lives dressed in uniform over here, maybe I watch too much TV movies lol, but it's all people giving military free drinks, meals and thanking for them for their service, I never see that over here, we are definitely two very different places" I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much discount I get in most shops and restaurants with a flash of my MOD 90 though

"In the states military service(past or present) is highly respected. Veterans and current service personnel are treated with the respect they deserve. An example is sporting events... it’s normal practice for all military to be asked to stand up whilst they are thanked for their service and the stadium will applaud them. " Mind boggling really. Where here veteterans seem to be left with no support whatsoever. Definitely not right.

They are still left to fend for themselves mostly. And generally it is largely down to states. Middle America is where the largest support and "worship" for military service resides.
