Did you receive sex education in school? If so what was the most widely inaccurate thing you were thought?

That to have sex, you have to put a condom on a banana. Still never figured out why

No. Not at all. All self taught- at a ridiculously young age to be honest as growing up on a West London council estate in early seventies, it’s all we had.

Anyway, I’m dating a primary school deputy head and she has to show a video and discuss

( to the kids, not me) and the things they cover is incredible. This is to the young ones. The theme being that knowledge is power and all that. She says the most difficult part is showing it to the parents and handling their questions.

Yeah, and I actually slept with that teacher multiple times (last year, so way after I had left school).

Nothing inaccurate about what he taught. He just didn’t put much of it into practice

My sex education was actually pretty good but I went to a school on the edge of a NW council estate where it was much needed. I wish they'd covered consent better back in my day though rather than just the biological stuff and contraception/STIs.

No flipcharts yet. Still feeling each other out as recently moved in together. I’ve introduced her to the joys of public nudity on beaches here and abroad. She enjoyed it more than she ever thought possible. I’ve even hinted at the idea of us attending a club.

No my dad give me a book on the female body and one about the male and that was that.i think I was 14/15 .

But funny story a friend of dad's was a night Watchman and every few months my dad got given a bin bag of dirty books.

Me and brother found them.

And we was expelled from school for a month for selling them in school.

Mum went nuts at dad and that was the end of selling dirty books

Yeah but I can't rem_mber anything about it. There are two books that I consider the core of my sexual education "A Kind of Loving" by Stan Barstow which scared me into making sure I never got pregnant. And "Bare Nell" by Leslie Thomas. Which taught me there was a life of sweet, erotic adventure out there if I wanted it. I did.

Manchester (she/her)

I changed schools in the middle of sex education, and it was night and day.

The first school, it was a load of religious guilt, mostly about girls being responsible for their purity and not tempting boys into sin. A girl needs to maintain her worth through chastity and if a boy or man "stumbles", it's her fault. I fucking shit you not. This was actually this century. Oh, and lots of anti abortion propaganda.

The second school, it was data on birth control, STIs, etc, which I don't rem_mber that clearly but seemed a lot more... grounded in evidence.

I wouldn't say mine was inaccurate, just more about anatomy than sex. Like this is a male anatomy, this is a female, when the sperm and egg meet there's a baby.

Nothing about the clitoris or any mention of sex other than a means of reproduction.

And they showed us a condom but didn't mention other forms of birth control.

When our biology teacher (at an all-boys school when I was 12-13) asked what the different between men and women was, the class fell silent. Nobody was prepared to say "penis" or "vagina" or (heaven help us) "breasts" to a teacher.

The teacher did not back down. He told us to picture a woman and tell us what the most obvious difference is.

Eventually, one brave soul spoke up and timidly said "Women have longer hair than men, sir?"

Age 11, at school... A man and woman lie close together and he puts his sperm inside her where it meets the egg and a baby is the result. Took me years and years of wondering to figure out anyone would like that.

Catholic catechism: any and all sexual acts before or outside of marriage is a mortal sin and abortion is evil in any circumstances.

I still think abortion is never an easy option, but honestly, NO ONE is pro abortion (as in, I'm going to get pregnant solely so I can have an abortion, wtf). I am completely pro choice

My sex education was pretty much nothing. Even my teachers weren't too keen on discussing it. When it came to having sex. Me and my first girlfriend sort of learned as we went along. She was already on the pill because her mum was adamant she needed to be so it was all without condoms and we were genuinely each others firsts. I feel I turned out alright. My ex on the other hand now has 2 kids with another on the way lol and she had the same sex ed as me!

I teach it.

Lesson one. Write down all the words you can think of for the words penis and vagina. Contribute....I write them on the board, all of them.

From them on we all know what we're talking about when we say penis and vagina, so we use the right words.

Then we shout them both out at the top of our voices. Because once you've shouted it, you're not embarrassed saying it.

I always try to guess the one that will say cunt. When they do, I don't react at all.
