Urgent!!! Any cat owners near Peterborough?

Jump to newest

By *orny PT OP   Man

Peterborough

This is serious.

I walked home from the shops near me and in the darkness and a nearly stood on fly tipped shoebox, which was placed with it's lid on and upright. Inside the box was some furry fabric...turns out it was a kitten. Alive, still warm but alive!

I took it home and have decided to find a better home for it.

I am keeping it warm under my jumper, that I am currently wearing.

The previuos owners don't seem worth contacting, not after this. So If any of you wonderful people can find a better home and you're near Peterborough, then feel free to PM me.

This poor thing is now in my care until further notice.

PLice and charities are overwhelmed, so I find a good home instead.

I don't know, but it's full of life and it is at a guess a few months old and looks really healthy and is licking warm milk from my finger.

"I don't know, but it's full of life and it is at a guess a few months old and looks really healthy and is licking warm milk from my finger."

Don't give cats milk, they can't tolerate it.

You'll need to get some food for it.

Take it to a vet ASAP to get it scanned (they will do for free)

surrounded by twinkly lights

Take it to a vets tomorrow and hand it in, keep it hydrated with water, milk may be too rich for its tummy as it should be on a specialist milk replacement, if its very young.

I have checked a website andthe eyes are now longer blue...

(6-7 weeks Kittens are quite active and weigh about 1 pound to 1 an 1/2 pounds Their eye color, changes from blue to its permanent color. May still be friendly and approach people. Very playful at this stage.)

I will keep the water available and get some kitten food, ASAP

Cats are great (as are dogs).

If you dont have any pets why not take the kitten in permanent, unlike dogs cats dont require nearly as much attention.

Seems like the little thing has taken to you and you are its saviour.

Might be fate

Kittens in closed shoeboxes on a cold night, tend not to be wanted.

Awww I couldn't imagine just throwing out a kitten. We have 3 full grown annoying bastards, and I couldnt be without them, however much they get on my tits! Haha.

Kitty also shouldn't have cows milk, just plain water (sounds older than 8 weeks from previous comments) and some kitten food.

Cats can be just as awesome as dogs if you train them right!

Thanks everyone. She needs a better home than her last one. She drinks water from my fingers and likes TESCO dry kitten food and the stick treats. Knotted yarn and a carpet tile off cut are coming in handy.

I will be declining any requests to do cat selfies, though!

Pigeon farm in Eye sounds like a plan, but I prefer the direct approach, when it comes to rehousing pets.

Warning! Cats will wriggle and worm their way into your heart until one day they have their paws firmly under the table. Then they will dominate you and use mind control to get treats from you. This has happened to me several times, and now I am nothing but a servant to them. But they're just so adorable, and manipulative

For your new little friend, he/she sounds very young and will easily get a stomach upset. Boiled and cooled water is best to drink for them, and dry kitten biscuits. Those stick things could be a bit rich, and he/she may accidentally decorate your carpet for you. Best of luck, and thank you for looking after the little guy.

A lot of people believe the myth that cats aren't affectionate. They can be incredibly loving in their own way, they're also hilarious. Watching a cat dreaming is just precious. I owned a cat who used to steal bacon out of the frying pan, she could flick it out with a claw and she'd know to let it cool down. Plus they catch spiders. I mean what's not to love?

Strange but true. My brother & his wife have had 4 cats over the past 22 years, each one walking into their homes, settling down & staying!

Two absolutely hated men as my brother warned me as he'd suffered the scratches; with me each one ended up sitting contentedly beside me.

At one job from 1998 to 2006, there was a colony of feral cats behind our site. No-one but me ever got close to the Mother & Father cats; they would even approach me, rub and walk around my legs and would feed from bowls at my feet.

I think cats are very intuitive when it comes to judging character. They can obviously tell you have no malice in you. I'm following your conversation on the nocturnal thread and its that kind of thing that restores ones faith in humanity. Good on you.

"Sooooooo.....so did you let the little kitty sleep on the end of your bed? "

Alas, I didn't. I did however, but her in a plastic washing basket with a (furniture van style) blanket, along with a carpet tile...good for scratching.

She will only drink water from my fingers, as the metal bowl I bought her doesn't tempt her. The same applies to the dried kitten food.

I put her in the bathroom for the night, for quarantine purposes and I know have a damp patch, in my bed room: where she crawled out and tagged her territory by the door. Plenty of water in-a little out.

I had a lie-in today, so we needed the rest. Good ol' Xmas holidays.

Only for a few hours, as she needs to go to a dedicated cat owner. Her old ones didn't do a good enough job of looking after her.

So if any of you wonderful Fabbers can find a suitable owner, then that would be great.

She still has no name.

***********************************************************************************

Update:

Phoned up local Cat's Protection league, who didn't seem to commital with advice. About 30 mins later, I got a call saying "Take her to our vets at Bretton and they'll take her in and set her up with a designated fosterer."

The next bit wasn't a lot of fun (took some pictures and video though). Packed her bowl and food, blanket in one bag, with the offending shoe box , then I put her in azip-up shopping bag, on my front seat using the seat belt.

No prizes for guessing, what was crawling over my car seat head restraint after I parked up. The words "I know-are a bit obvious".

I filled out the forms and handed her over after showing the video on my camera and a brief how explaination. Vets' surgeries are good at changing moods. Her

Mission accomplished: I think. She only had a few fleas. Some people eh?

I wanted to say "Can I swap her for a puppy?", but never did. Not like me to walk away from having the last word...1993 all over again? Please no!

************************************************************************************

Final word tonight: I hope the scum who sealed her in that shoe box, feel as lousy as I do.

(Keeps telling self: it's the change over of my happy pills that's causing this. Honest!)

Honest!)"

Ash well bless you for rescuing her. She'll go to a good home The scumbag could have taken her there in the first place, poor little soul. Well done you

I keep saying that you are either part of the solution, part of the problem or part of the scenery.

You sir, are part of the solution and I thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.

Respect

"Warning! Cats will wriggle and worm their way into your heart until one day they have their paws firmly under the table. Then they will dominate you and use mind control to get treats from you. This has happened to me several times, and now I am nothing but a servant to them. But they're just so adorable, and manipulative

So, so true Sir.

For your new little friend, he/she sounds very young and will easily get a stomach upset. Boiled and cooled water is best to drink for them, and dry kitten biscuits. Those stick things could be a bit rich, and he/she may accidentally decorate your carpet for you. Best of luck, and thank you for looking after the little guy."

Right then my feline aficionados, I'm still a dog person, OK?

Here's the update...

I went into the vets today for an update and this is what I was told.

She is alive and well. She's still got no name, chip or complaints. They have wormed and also given her her first jabs. This was billed to the lovely people at the local CPL, who took her into their care; where she will stay until a new cat-loving home will be found. (Won't take long will it?).

If the CPL volunteers haven't already taken her home already, then I think she will be up for grabs in the new year. So act quick and contact the Peterborough branch and feel free to use my profile picture

if you want to end up with this kitten who has a Batman mask.

Grim reaper 0

Little kitty 1

She's now got 8 lives left, thanks to me.

Thanks from me and a little meow from her...Jingle all the way!

You should go to the Dr's, you maybe host to a parasite.

Toxoplasma gondii, is a parasite that affects the brain and makes you a cat lover...
