Contuniue here it was interesting to see the replys, they are planning to introduce it more so to the younger ones to keep them healthy, how would it work?

Are you aware there is already a tariff(tax) on sugar cane of over 100%, before the sugar tax, and you of course then pay VAT on the tariff and the sugar tax.

Many families dont know how to cook properly on a budget. I eat bloody well for around £30 per week. And I eat a lot.

The food we eat isn't the obesity problem, it's the lifestyle we are now living. We have created a lazy society. Games consoles, mobile phones, internet shopping and social media are just some of the causes

If they’re going to tax sugar, then they need to drop the price of better healthy food. I was in Tesco and the low fat foods were way more expensive than the regular ones.

On a serious note, diabetics when have a hypo/sugar crash, you have to get twice the amount of lucozade/fizzy pop into them now. It was hard enough getting a cup full into my dad when he had hypos.

Tbf I rarely drink full sugar drinks C does because hes allergic to a lot of sweeteners. Which thanks to the sugar tax are being used even more now!!

Both of us can cook from scratch. We eat different meals which is tricky but we have to. I'm plant based and C isn't!! I bought a load of veg yesterday for just over a tenner will last a week. It wouldve been less but I fancied asparagus!

Drop all taxes except income tax. Raise that to 40-45% and continue to allow the state to pick up the bill for sugar.

Or, start charging or treatment.

If not, then tax at the point of sale so the user pays his due.

I spend very little on food. You do not need fresh butcher meat to survive. For dinner isometimes have beans on toast and other days i may have homemade soup and both fill me up. People in this country waste far too much money on food.

You're right, you don't need fresh butcher meat to survive, but we like to eat proper good quality well balanced nutritious healthy meals. It's whatever people are happy consuming.

I use cash because I get paid with cash.

I've hardly used a card in my life and I don't want to.

That is good but still anyone can eat good food for under a fiver a day feeding the whole family, tuna rice and mix veg for example just cook a big rice portion and oats in the morning.

Just this. It's far cheaper, quicker and healthier we find to cook fresh. Also, we do a lot of shopping out of the super market, so use the Asian stores for spices and big 10KG bags of rice, lentils etc. Super markets are far too expensive for most things. Local markets are good for veg and a good butcher for meat is better cuts for less in our area. Leftovers are not thrown away, you can make bubble and squeak from spuds and veg etc.

As far as sugar tax goes, they replace with artificial sweeteners that we dislike, so we find it very hard to get a good tonic now for our Gin
