Off the top of my head, although im sure i can only think of two people where becoming famous at a young age contributed to their death and neither where in the last 10 years.

The only two i can think of is lena zavaroni and karen carpenter

Amy Winehouse had a tuff time coping i think , Britany , isn't as level headed as she might be , but maybe it's the meds that dont help ?

Still nothing to do with the xfactor though.

I dont think its someones age its there personality.

Look at donny osmond, same ages, same young fame, same large family. Comletely different lifestyle choices

It's nothing new.....Musical talent has for many years been nurtured from a young age.

If you compare the number of 'young stars' who have faired badly to the many who have prospered and grown as artists then you will find most adapt and handle it well.

Then you got people like boybands, boyzone not everyones cup of tea but they where only 16 when they got in the spot light and although stephen died nothing to do with his age. This one direction seem to be doing well and i cant stand jedward but they seem happy enough

Isn't this a little pointless as most people with musical talent gets spotted when young! Well apart from the odd Suzanne Boyle that gets missed. In life young people can't cope but there are a hell of a lot of Ozzys, Richards, Jaggers in this world who aren't spring chickens who cant cope with fame in their dotage.

The Bee Gees first started appearing on Australian TV as a singing group when Barry was 14 and the twins (Maurice and Robin) were 13....they coped

Stevie Wonder had a number One record at the age of 13 and went on to establish a major career that has so far lasted 49 years....he coped

Smokey Robinson was penning multiple number One records with Berry Gordy at Motown at the age of 18, some 54 years later he has continued in the industry and has been highly succesful....he coped

Maybe people just got on with things and coped better in the past?

Or.....maybe the problem isn't as bad as the Op thinks it is?

So what is your assessment that she's coping quite well based on?

Agreed, some people fuck up in life. Fame and fortune just enables some people to fuck up much more spectacularly and publically. I don't think that fame is that big a factor in that.

Maybe the difference is that the ilk you mention above, plus countless others, had real talent and worked bloody hard. It endures.

Whereas to be used in an entertainment show and then later be effectively dumped, or even worse disregarded, must be hard on the psyche.

Who knows?

A lot of it is to do with the pressure and the fortune they get and ultimately being in a dominant adult industry I know Drew Barrymore was not a pop star but a child star yes she has come out the other side but she did fight some demons. And the Harry Potter stars I think are very level headed.

They should have had a separate number you could ring to have her mother publicly executed. I'd have voted....
