I just wonder why some people have a “include this (insert a word or phrase here) in your subject so I know you read my profile”. When that has no effect on determining whether or not the sender will get a reply?

When I had a key word, it did. If I didn't see the word, the message got deleted. If I did, I considered the message.

Now I just delete if I can't tell my profile has been read.

It does determine if you get a reply, from my experince if you dont use it you will get deleted but if you do they will usually read your message and maybe look at your profile from there and then decide if they want to reply or not

I have a word. If it isn’t included in a message I delete the message without even looking at the profile.

My pet hates are ‘been here before and know how it works’ and ‘just ask’ as the entire profile text. And a guy that lists everything he is looking for but doesn’t say what he’s offering.
