It gets a bit like white noise after a while doesn't it? Lots of people in one place.

I've been to a couple of local ones. I enjoyed myself, met more interesting people than I thought I'd meet.

It's a bit sensory overload for me, I find myself withdrawing. I like to focus on one person at a time. I'm OK in groups where I know most people already.

When i used to be a regular attendee of socials I never actively avoided people who I'd clashed with and never had problems with anyone. In fact the opposite was true and on more than one occassion i have had a good laugh with people that I'd not necessarily have expected to.

But surely you could arrange to meet them separately anyway. I think that the idea of a mass social, maybe I worded it wrong, was to meet up with and converse with people who you may have met before and to make some new acquaintances

Oo err Devon

Our first meet up with anyone was at a local area social... I loved it. It was so much fun meeting lots of people all in one place with a certain common interest. Loved the flirting, chatting and enjoyed the after party even more so

So I'm definitely looking forward to the next

"So serious question......you attend and cmon not everyone is all pally pally, forum's show that....do you avoid those people?

When i used to be a regular attendee of socials I never actively avoided people who I'd clashed with and never had problems with anyone. In fact the opposite was true and on more than one occassion i have had a good laugh with people that I'd not necessarily have expected to. "

Same.

I do go to socials and I really enjoy them. The last one I attended was a fantastic event.

It's a great way to meet people and put faces to names, although I prefer ones that aren't just for forum users

I treat them like you would at any pub for instance, some folk are quite happy to have a chat, others like to keep themselves in their own circles "

Exactly this. However Bob and I aren’t very social people yet we regularly go to the Chester and NW socials and have a lovely time, every time. Always really friendly fabbers to talk to with sex hardly ever on the agenda.

Yes. And it’s really friendly, well run, in one of two locations ( one actually in Chester and one outside Chester) and attended by normal lovely people. Organisers are “ tongue in cheek” or “ cuddly biker chick”.

MLS, STP and Heathrow socials are my favourites. Saying that, they are my staples Might try and get to more in 2020

Fantastic way of meeting people you would generally never think about meeting for whatever reason (usually preferences)

Bring them on!!!!

Pinner

Like many others above, I love the socials, a great chance to meet others in the lifestyle and swap experiences, in fact I enjoy them so much I've hosted quite a few little get togethers over the years.

I have really enjoyed going all over the country and meeting others and chatting to people I would never have crossed paths with otherwise...

It’s the same as any other event or gathering in that sense. If you don’t get along then just keep your distance is the best approach. We are adults after all so I would hope that people could manage that. I haven’t witnessed an issue at any of the socials I’ve attended thank goodness
