She doesn’t deserve it. What if someone famous had brought the environmental issues to the worlds governments would they have got it.

Given the fact that all of the global environmental protests that blocked up cities around the world to make a point then she doesn’t deserve it.

I do think she's been fed a lot of one sided propaganda and is being used by certain people to push their agenda.

I do think that she's done some good in highlighting the need to make changes but I do feel uncomfortable with the way people around her have "weaponised" a sixteen year old with special needs.

They've done something worthy of an award not just read a script and gained social prowess, yes she's helped raise awareness but that's her only accomplish

Personally I would rather have the scienstes in Iceland that invented a way to store CO2 in rocks or an Aussie I know (but has gone bankrupt many times and is now in his 80's) who planned a way and actually works to slow down the Hydrology works ans= slows down the water flow underground to fill up artesian wells and also prevents the veld getting exposed to droughts - but none of them shouts loud enough and besides most used their own money - living in the world of grandstanding disrupters - not so cool!!!

Ignoring how people feel about the topic she is focused on.

In a way she has got people really debating it (though in some cases debate is a stretch). It has drawn a lot more attention, for the wrong reasons in some cases, towards it.

In other ways, she hasn't really don't anything more than what a simple celebrity could have done. She made a speech in the wrong tone, that rubbed people up the wrong way, further pushing them toward the view they had in the first place.

Why aren't children from socially deprived areas, third world or war rorn countries given a platform to raise awareness of climate change issues?

Clearly she is from an affluent family who are able to afford (financially) and have access to high profile contacts to allow her the opportunity to trot around the globe spreading her message.
