Do speed cameras flash?

I was doing 50mph today when I saw a camera and a 40mph sign close to it and i think I braked to late.

My friend said it didn't flash so I didn't get done.. But I don't think they do?

If it’s a set one at the side of the road, they flash. Motorways flash, too.

It’s more of a warning to other users that they’ll get done.

Temporary ones such as mobile police units don’t flash.

If it didn’t flash, you got lucky.

Dunno.

There is a notorious one near me, in a 40 zone at a crossroads. I drove past it at 50mph 6 weeks ago, no flash, nothing through the door.

Some are turned off I am sure of it

NW London

Average speed cameras and front facing ones (truvelos) don't flash.

Conventional rear facing (Gatso) cameras do. But only if they're active. Some are just for show now.

Some units use an infra red flash, you won't see that flash till you get the bill.

I just hope I don't get points again. For the first time recently I had 3points and when I told my insurance the price increased by £600!

hiding from cock pics.

I think that you have to receive the notification within the first 14 days after it occurred otherwise it doesn't count, someone correct me if I'm wrong though!

I had to go on a speed awareness course. Every speed camera has a camera in it. Not all flash. But you will get caught. I was done on an average speed camera x

Preferably with machine guns in the exhaust to shoot out those pesky cameras

I havent heard about that. I was once stopped for not wearing a seat belt and was then asked to attend court in Blackpool almost 9 months later.

It might be different then receiving a notification for fixed penalty, I'm not really sure

It is 30 days, I had one 30 days after the event, thought I had got away with it but nope, thankfully speed school saved me the points.
