his condition is and was terminal,it would be very kind if he just slipped away,im sure his family have said all the things they wanted to say to him,and it would be a peaceful way for him to go,no more suffering

thoughts are with his family

He blamed his cancer on his career as the price to pay for success. How screwed up is that. I wish him well but alas I fear it's merely a matter of days now.

I think he was a shit hot singer and I really love the BeeGees stuff but as above I think sadly his days are numbered now arnt they. I just hope he feels no pain as he passes. Just goes to show that when your time is up your time is up and no matter who you are or what you have achieved in your life with fame and fortune. YOUR GOING OUT THE SAME WAY YOU CAME IN

RIP Robin top man with some great music behind you

I believe it;s only a matter of time. Very unlikely to survive pneumonia when he is that ill with cancer. Sad.

Heard he was in hospital with pnuemonia a few days back.

Talented family musically.

Just goes to show it can happen to anyone.

There's nothing much anyone can do for him apart from his nearest and dearest being there for him.

Seen a very similar thing around 8 weeks ago now... the waiting is the worst thing - each day you hope they're going to make an improvement, but you know it's the slippery slope. I hope it all goes as okay as it can.

Not only a great song writer but also one of the true nice guys in the music industry, a very humble man as are/were the rest of his brothers, unlike some of the so called 'stars' of today....

Most of whom won't have a quarter of the music success that Robin and his family have had....nor the longevity

of their career.

A very sad time indeed.....

I know some people like to think that they are comedy geniuses and that every thread necessitates an injection of their humour but I do really fail to see why anyone would feel that cracking jokes on a thread like this is either decent or respectful.

Whilst I tend to agree with you I think highlighting them will only have them prolonging the argument and deter from the thread intention.

Just shows the lows they will go to to get attention.

Having lost relatives to cancer and having family members go through it, I found it tasteless and disrespectful.

I love a laugh but there's a time and a place.

My thoughts exactly. It is very sad that Robin Gibb is dying, but we have people we know who are very ill, but not celebs! I don't suppose I would have got this outpouring of grief if I had posted about Brian Short and his Non Hodgkins Lymphpma...

But Brian Short will not have touched the lives of as many people....it's got less to do with celebrity than it has with respect for an artist who impacted the life of millions with his work.

It doesn't mean that people have any less respect and feeling for people like Brian Short....they just won't know of him, it doesn't make his plight any less.....just not as well known.

1998 I watched my true hero take his last breath in a hospital bed as he lost his battle with cancer that took a 16stone man down to about 8stone in a matter of just 2weeks then he took a real turn for the worse and died a few days later. It was a very uggly and rapid cancer that took him away from us. He was not a celeb and not known to millions of people but he touched the life of those that knew him as he was a loving Husband father and grand father and I still fuckin miss him still to this very day

Yes Jane, I agree with you and like many on here I am saddened by Robins plight. I am just reminded of the pictures that do the rounds when someone famous dies. "photo of famous person" dies and millions cry. Then a picture of kids dying from famine and then "Millions die and no one cares" One we have no control over and the other we have!

I agree with your sentiment but there is one thing to bear in mind, as individuals we are in a position to mourn the passing of someone we admire and respect....even worship in some peoples views....but as ordinary individuals we do not have control over the millions who die from famine etc.

We can care, we can donate, but we have no control over their fate.....only governments and international organisations can make any REAL difference to the plight of these poor souls.

I do get your point though, but feel however much I care, and however much I donate I am in no position as an individual to impact greatly on their lives.

O o O oo

Everytime one of these type of threads turn up there are always people who look uncaring who want to spoil it for others.

It also seems to depend on who it is dying or dead as to what comments you get from people....some "joke" on some threads and condemn people for doing it on others ( not singling anyone out on any thread, but after many of these threads over the years you see many being contradictory )

Sometimes it just looks nasty.

Either way, wether a person is a singer/ famous or a street cleaner, cancer is a horrible disease to have and to die from....and it really isn't funny to watch.

Anyone suffering and the familes watching, I feel sorry for them....hopefully it won't drag on too long for all concerned.

In my misspent youth I was a pro musician and actually met the Gibbs on a couple of occasions. Not to speak to but to work with and they were just lovely guys. Very professional but always happy to lighten up the sessions.

It now seems that Barry will be on his own soon with Cancer taking his 2 brothers and we should all think about his personal loss as much as our musical loss.

It is very sad to hear about Robin Gibb. I suppose we will have people who will say why should we be concerned with someone we do not know. They would also say, there are many people out there who are in a similar predicament. Why should we be concerned with someone who is in the public eye.

From my perspective I think it is very sad because his music was great and it will be his legacy.

But on another note, when you read the news about illness like this. It brings home the memories of having gone through taumatic times yourself. I think we have all had our lives touched at some point by either cancer or death of a loved one. We hear the news and it triggers off awareness of the plight they are having and what they are going though. We all in our journey of life experience this whether it be family or yourself.

Am not very eloquent when trying to express what I mean.
