What movie do you watch once a year or so that makes you weep?

Mr watches Tears of the Sun and cries silently... then again he worked the Rwandan massacre in his military days. Mrs can't get through Sound of Music. Ha!

Donnie darko. The film is amazing but the end is so thought provoking and yes as a man I shed a tear or two. Best sound track to a film closure too.

The scene where she calls him her best friend. His moved and dignified "Yes'm" just slays me. They're both amazing, it's a film about friendship and getting old and trust and pride and humility. It's got moments that are laugh out loud funny too and the bonus of Dan Aykroyd as her son. But it makes me blub like a child every time

I think when we become veterans we cry more at films esp war films when when we younger we watched them with mates and didn't dare cry! Tears of the sun def got me, we were soldiers and saving Private Ryan esp at the end when he visits the war memorial and asks if he was a good soldier. One completely non war related- a children's film, Bridge to Teribethia had me blubbing like a big girl's blouse!!

"Stand By Me"

Yep, the film is great but it's that last line of it that gets me right in the feels when the narrator describes how he never had any friends later in life like the ones he had when he was 12, there's a lot of truth in that when I think back to being that age myself.

Scarface. Epic movie and brian de Palma at his best. Such a tragic story. Although most of the characters are villains it shows a round about story of rags to riches in a brilliant way and a fall from height at the end. The music that plays when scarface falls and his only interest at that point is his Tiger (Michelle pfiefer). Top five of my movies and yes an emotional tear usually drops

I mentioned it in a similar thread the other week but 'Marley And Me', most of the film is a light hearted comedy but christ the ending when the dogs health fails and he has to be put down had tears streaming down my face. I've had to let go of a few good dogs like that over my lifetime and that part of the film brings it all back

"Dead Poets Society "

My son's father and I watched this with him. Thinking he'd be wowed and inspired (he was about 16). He was so horrified by Neil's suicide he couldn't see the message and he was angry with us for showing him it. Fascinating to watch him absorb culture and see his reactions.

'Manchester by the sea' is a tough watch.

It's a stunningly brilliant film but if you're not down in the dumps after it then you're probably not really human

Wow, yes it was. Amazing performance by Casey Affleck.

Topical and just been reminded of it... The Snowman. I try my best to catch it every Christmas and it always makes me blub.

"Project Nim"

-This is actually a documentary - about a chimpanzee that was snatched from his mother & raised as a human as an experiment in the 1970s. One of the human surrogate mum's even breastfed him.

-As you can imagine the experiment went horribly wrong.

Gut wrenchingly sad, but a very good film.

It's the line when John Travolta asks if she'll love him for the rest of his life and she comes back with

'No, I'm gonna love you for the rest of mine'

Gets me every single time
