London

It's that time of year again where the turkeys are nervous and there's a jingle in your bells, so who's in for this year's game?

It's not that complicated. Allow me to enlighten you.

THE FIRST RULE

The objective is to go as long as possible without hearing WHAM's Christmas classic; "Last Christmas".

THE SECOND RULE

The game starts on December 1st, and ends at midnight on December 24th.

Use your local timezone, if you'd like.

(Yes, we're European heathens)

THE THIRD RULE

Only the original version applies. Enjoy the fuck out of remixes and covers.

THE FOURTH RULE

You're out as soon as you recognise the song.

While I can't stop you from deliberately sending your friends to Whamhalla, the intention is that this is a survival game. Not a Battle Royale. So ... don't be a dick, mkay?

Thanks for the warning. I can avoid the replay tomorrow and the iPlayer.

I shop where they don't pump music through the PA and I leave the radio on 4. I'm not even risking 6 in case someone is feeling evil.

I seem to be - attended an appointment this morning and whilst in the waiting room they had the radio on playing Xmas songs so thought Whammagedon was close but the programme then switched to "Guess The Year" and it was 1989 so sighs of relief all round - even went to Tesco and a garden centre playing Xmas tunes and survived....

Slade, Mud, Elton, Mariah, McCartney, Whammageddon was inevitable had I remained on hold for much longer... I survived, but I was holding my breath I tell ya.

I never thought this game would be fun. It's actually making me laugh though. So, once again fellow players...

So...

There I was, minding my own business. My phone vibrated to say I had a message. A WhatsApp video. So naturally I got a bit excited and started imagining all the beauty I would be perving on.

I'm watching it and there's a lovely Christmas tree all set up and I'm thinking "oh great, festive wanking, maybe with a sexy thong on. I'm on board with that". And then I recognised the first bloody bar. So if you're reading this, I hope you're happy. You've Whammed me and I'm shaking my fist at you in posh rage.

After yesterday's close shave I'm still in, but Xmas shopping on Saturday or pre-gig drinks on Sunday are likely to see me Andrew and Georged.

My charmed life is like a game of Russian Roulette every time I step into Tesco too - was in the local Express earlier (they don't always have music playing) and caught a blast of Do They Know It's Christmas so got out of there as fast as I could - it's dictating my life!!

I was expecting to be out last night ... Christmas do at work. But no it wasn't played and I am still in!

I'm planning Meadowhall tomorrow, I'm fairly sure I'll be out then!!

How?!

I'd feel violated if it happened at home.

I think Manchester and the MLS might put paid to my success.

Fellow Whamaggedonists....sad news to impart...

....on the stroke of noon today in Debenhams, whilst on a risky mission to the front line of Xmas shopping, like so many trips he has conducted before, tempting fate with each and every foray and sortie, Private Gemini was aurally assaulted by Andrew and George warbling *that* song...to make matters worse not once but twice did he hear it....yes he bowed out on a double Whammy

To those still in...good luck..be brave and may Christmas Eve arrive without your ears being assaulted in such a cruel way
