What do you dress up for?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Inaswingdress's thread on dresses got me thinking about dressing up for Christmas.

In days of yore we would dress up for Christmas, starting with Midnight Mass and Church on Christmas morning.

Now we have breakfast, usually dressed and not in jammies, then walk the dog and have hot chocolate out. When we get back together for lunch we're still wearing our dog walking clothes.

I'll only change if I go to a friend's Christmas morning party.

Do you dress up for Christmas?

What else do you dress up for?

Always dress up for Xmas... something that fits the occasion.

I look for excuses to dress up. Give me one and you got it

I'll open a gold envelope, if you like?

I used to dress up too. I have a wardrobe full of outfits for a life I no longer have.

Manchester (she/her)

I wear dresses because I like them, not to dress up. I don't particularly dress up for Christmas day, but I will for associated parties.

Most of the time when I'm deliberately dressing up at the moment it has something to do with swinging

I love to make an effort and glam up. I do it for my own benefit before anyone else's. It makes me feel more confident.

At times though I can be pretty lazy day to day at work and at home so I enjoy a reason to make an effort .

It's always lovely when it's appreciated too

I’ve never been a glam girly type dresser, but i scrub up well when needed, which has always pleasantly suprised folk

I’m happiest in jeans, jumper and a waterproof coat, my hair wild, my cheeks flushed from beng outdoors.

I like the double entendre of your Fab name, then.

I suspect your happiest looks look wonderful and will be more of a turn on than being scrubbed up and uncomfortable.

I like it when men take an interest in their clothing... and let me feel the quality of the cloth.

Out of curiosity, do you class wearing dresses and doing your makeup as dressing up? Because I do that everyday and a lot of my every day dresses can also be worn out to dinner/clubbing etc

I only wear eyeliner and lipstick, generally. If I add mascara I'm dressed up.

I wear a lot of dresses and skirts but as I can't wear heels anymore I never feel truly dressed up now. My functional, comfortable shoes mean I look more like Miss Trunchbull in my suits than a femme fatale.

Scunthorpe

I like to get dressed up to go out.

For me, dressing up means wearing makeup and not wearing something I normally wear to work.
