Sell themselves like many men do via messages/status/profile, with regards to looks? They state attractive, handsome or good looking.

I appreciate confidence but since looks are subjective, this selling point seems pointless.

Surely we all simply have faces only a mother could love

Erm, I'm much the same as Lucie but I have seen women who have those things on their profile. I think if someone is confident enough in their physical attributes to state it, I'm all for it. Too often we downplay our own attractiveness and if there's ever a time to feel yourself, it's on here surely.

I don’t mention anything except that i’m a larger lady. I’m not what you would class as conventially attractive so i know i’ll be an acquired taste. They get a face pic and they can make their own minds up.

You really can't beat meeting people in real life. Expectations from online interaction can often be shattered by face to face interaction. Likewise there's people I (and as a couple we) have not really taken to online but when you meet them in a club or party you actually realise you quite like them and vice versa.

That's why I much prefer clubs where you can meet people in the flesh and get a better idea.

Exactly. Of course some people are gorgeous to anyone who views them but IMO...vanity is a terrible thing. Self confidence is good but there is a thin line between that and vanity. And someone stating they are attractive is vanity to me.

Agree. Guys always said I am better in person. HATE all face pics of me....self esteem. Meeting in person is much better.

I’m not sure... It just doesn’t fit with me personally to describe myself as attractive. However, if someone asked me to describe my best attributes (outside of Fab), I’d have no issue saying things like I’m intelligent, driven, caring, empathic... etc. How I look physically wouldn’t be top of my list of any description of myself, so I guess that translates onto here too (ie if I wouldn’t do it elsewhere why here?). If that makes sense?

Personally I don’t state myself as attractive, it’s all relative!

I do like confidence though and it is seen in profiles and it doesn’t sway me one way or another, I hold my own opinion.

Thought provoking question OP, something I had never thought about re men with such blurb. I would never dream of it, interestingly I have never thought of the males behind such profiles as being vain or full of themselves either. Don't think I've met any either. Like a few posters have said, my looks are very much unconventional - I shave my hair for starters - the lady in Skunk Anansie level. That is either a turn on or turn off when I send my face pics lol

It's always a tightrope walk really. I'm slim.I brush up pretty good, but I'm not a gym fit, muscle guy.

I rarely message anyone. But send a face pic when I do. I get messaged by women and couples occasionally. If they have veris, I check out who they've met before to judge if I think I'm their type. 9 times out of 10 I just delete their message.

I hate terms like alpha male, BBC/BWC etc as they're all subjective. As is handsome.

ive been told I'm handsome by many women but ive also had the odd negative response so i understand you can't be everyones cup of tea, confidence can be misinterpreted as arrogance, i like to think I'm confident in a nice manner, i interact well with people in a face to face environment but i dont enjoy taking pics i dont think I'm photogenic maybe i am i dont think i am though

Words for guys and pictures for ladies, but it is still marketing ourselves to gain attention.

Back to a common theme though women generally are looking for a type of male which they will deny!!! ... that looks matter the old cliche "it's not looks its personally " how many women go to a club, bar, pub .... see the fat bold guy in the corner and think wow bet he's got an amazing personality I'd like date him.... rather then the Adonis that has a personality of a neanderthal.

So guys tend to try to describe themselves rather than pictures.

I hadn’t realised but when I wrote our profile I described how gorgeous Mr is, helpful as he can’t show his face due to work, but only point out my wobbly bits- but my face is all over the profile as I’m a camera whore, haha x
