People who holiday here either have a bucket and spade or a bag of golf clubs.

Depends what you want to do.

little house on the praire

Depends what you want to do. I prefer 3/4 day breaks to somewhere of interest. My next little trip is to london for a few days to do the museums as its that long since ive done them and then i think its bath.

Right a list of what you want you want from a holiday that would be a good starting point

Our part of the world is pretty cool. Great for surfing or hiking if you fancy outdoors pursuits

Dundee/Angus/Blackpool

If you like visiting places with a historical background, and yeah you should do a stop and get off trip - visit little villages on a train route for days out as well *smiles* I love visiting places that have things to do and have a background to them

Northumberland is stunningly beautiful, few sites compare to Hadrians Wall or Holy Island.

But it really depends what you are looking for.

See if you can still get a ROVER type of ticket which will allow several days travel within a certain area.

I love Whitby, not really enough for a whole week though. Although if you are driving, there are plenty of places nearby you can visit.

I also love Dublin, I intend to go there in October time again. Love the sea and the bustling city so close.

You are liverpool based!

Ferry to Dublin, stay a night or 2 then drive the car up to belfast with maybe a stopover on the way, night or 2 in belfast. then either ferry to south scotland and drive back down or drive back down to dublin for the ferry.

Its a lovely journey, Ireland and The North are beautiful countries with fantastic friendly people.

We can't wait to go back

Ah, so "The North" is actually a country then, I always wondered where they came from. Signed from a "Midlander"

Ha Ha

I knew someone would pick me up on that!

It was meant as a term of affection as in Northern Ireland.

Caerfyrddin? (Nice little market town but don't criticize the Cardi's in the knitwear shops) Or Caernarfon? (Nice castle, but all a bit touristy, and not as nice as Harlech) Caerleon has superb Roman ruins, and excellent pubs and countryside as has Caerwent - both are handy for Brunbuga, but if you meet Bryn don't ask if he does, since it doesn't mean that. Caersws isn't much fun...

Don't confuse any of them with Cairo...

National 7 day rover was £450 last time I checked - would be nice to do it one day - do all the classics, like Settle-Carlisle and the highlands...
