"I don't think Die Hard is a counts as a Christmas story just for being set at Christmas. My favourite is one called A Christmas Story, imaginatively. It's really funny. " die hard does seem to get classed as a Christmas movie by some although if you read into it in detail it wasn't actually meant to be one. Yes it's set at Christmas eve but it was actually a summer blockbuster in that particular year it was first released. With a high body count it doesn't have much ho ho ho now does it

" according to a, You Gov poll only 30%consider it to be a Christmas movie and over 50%not. So it doesn't actually get to be an official Christmas movie. Its just a matter of which side of the fence you are sitting on but statistically it isn't. It's classed as, an action thriller which just happens to be set at Christmas eve. Far too high a body count. If that's someone's idea of a goodwill to all men kind of film then something is definitely wrong with this world. Enough said, people... Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas " And its a wonderful life is a depressing would destroying story about just settling and giving up on your happiness, hopes and dreams for the sole purpose of other people. That goes beyond doing nice things for other people. Oh look, die hard is about the exact same thing, a man sacrificing his own safety to do the right thing, against all odds to save his wife and a lot of other people with a Christmas setting. Muppet's Christmas Carol has a better Xmas message than "it's a wonderful life?" (yes the ? Is intentional). And who are you to tell me and others what we can and cannot choose to class as a Christmas movie?

Also, just like die hard the movie just turns out to be set at Xmas, the creater liked the idea of it being set then. Which is what it got an Xmas release (because it was the done thing). He is quoted saying this. Furthermore, the only reason it was shown so much at Xmas is because it was free due to copyright balls up in the 70s. It could be shown and sold without paying royalties, until eventually it was sorted in a supreme Court. It just became tradition this way.
