Who has an Alexa (or similar device) do you like it? We use ours loads and think it’s fab.

Yeah I never wanted one and now couldn't live without her she does my shopping list. Sets my timers and reminders as well as music. I take my dot away with me too.

Beast has a Google thing instead

I've been considering a portable radio for the kitchen but also thought about the google home mini / nest mini. (These actually look to be the cheaper option)

As an example, I'm guessing I could ask it for recipes if I'm stuck and can ask it to play radio stations of my choice?

Presume of could just pick up the bbc radio without needing iplayer?

Anyone with either the home mini or nest mini able to give me any advice on which might be the better buy, I'd be grateful.

You can get an echo dot for about £20 now. It plays all fab stations etc. Great little device.

Yep we have several devices around the house.

Used for lighting, heating, security, entertainment of all kinds, domestic, travel, amongst numerous other things, which are great for the whole family.

Love ours

.. We have 3!

We got a 'dot' and hooked it up through an amp and speakers (the alexa speakers are not great)

We play radio (radio 6, 4 + 1), it tells me jokes, it meows , it answers general knowledge Qs that we want to know, it checks train times, it plays general music (possibly from our files), it checks the loading bay is secure

Yes gave it away recently. Tbh i dont like that its always listening, i found myself leaving the room when having certain telephone convo's that little blue light was always spinning around... listening

I have one in my workshop as the music system, it's great when radio 2 gets annoying I just shout over the machine noise and it switches to radio one or six or plays an album from my collection.

If anyone is bugging me they will know what my router, bandsaw, thicknesser etc sounds like.

I've got 2 echoes downstairs (configured as a stereo pair) and a dot in the bedroom - but mostly use Alexa in the car, to find music while I'm driving.

Bedroom dot is handy for time & weather, when I can't be arsed to get up and look.

I like my remote sockets - useful for security, when I'm out after dark. Can set up various lighting modes, via the Alexa app.

Picked up all the tech really cheap, on Prime Day
