AnxietyDoes anyone else suffer with this and would get you out of the Mood on times

Generally stuff offline helps buddy if you have someone to chat shit to or just getting some air and a stroll alone and taking the time to reset, you'll know the answer yourself I guess....

I suffered from GAD (generalised anxiety and depression disorder) for years after the end of an abusive relationship, followed by losing 3 jobs. There were times I felt like nothing would ever go right again. Until then I had been a bit of a golden child workwise and despite having had a violent father, I hadn't really twigged that lightening could strike twice! My fwb died unexpectedly. My daughter went off the rails big time. Life was pretty shit! But I went to the doctor. Got meds and took them! Tried various until I found one that worked best. My friends were and are brilliant. I took one day at a time and accepted that it was the illness that made me anxious. And the illness was caused by events I did not choose. Be kind to yourself. You can always pm me. I may not answer immediately but I will reply.

Yes, talking to others helps. Taking some time out and practising mindfulness works as well. My dear friend actually taught me a very useful exercise that's helped a lot recently. It's dubbed the "and then" and it basically involves me starting with The Big Worry and hypothesising on future events until I realise the daftness of it and laugh again.

An example

My cheese is mouldy

And then I can't cook shashuka

And then my partner will be disappointed in me

And then he might leave me over some eggs baked without cheese

And then I won't get married and we won't have a cheese cake...

It works for me, it might not for you - that's true of all coping strategies.

Have you ever tried controlled breathing?

When I'm stressed, either mentally or physically I do this, I learned how to do it on an antenatal course many years ago.

Basically you take a seat, breath deeply in through your nose, hold your breathe and slowly exhale taking the time to feel your entire body muscular system relax. I can lower my heart beat by about 15 BPM within minutes now. Takes a little practice, but will slow you down and enables you to regroup.

I know talking helps but this is difficult to put in the word how you feels like if I make sense I’ve tried for lots of different tablets I’m on the fourt just don’t seem to work for like a couple weeks and I just feel like a dip off Got appointment tomorrow with a counsellor but can quite like nervous about it Thanks for the replies as easy just to scroll past and that it like

Did you say you are on a new tablet just for two weeks? It might take some time to kick in. Its great you are seeing your GP and counsellor. Have your safety net tight around you x

If you have panic attacks.. grounding exercise works for some.

Bean on the new ones for about 8 weeks I done group course but I don’t thing they are for me try to get One on one hopefully today I get a better understanding how to deal with it

No but met a couple of guys on here who suffer from it and they says fab doesn't help. Maybe try going out for a walk get some air may improve things.

No idea of your circumstances and do not want to suggest something you can’t do but if you can, then going to see a therapist that specialises in Anxiety is life changing for many.

Rather than trying to stop Anxiety it’s sometimes better to learn how to manage it.

This is just from experiences with friends/colleagues who have suffered and I am definitely not an expert
