For what reasons would Mods close a thread, i have seen some and the reason is obvious but seen others and have no idea what the reason is?

Usually it's because there is something in the thread that's against forum rules or to prevent it turning into a thread where people break forum rules. Also if someone has asked a question about site rules and a mod has answered it.
