Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Do you support your local small, independent shops?

This time of year can be make or break for the big retailers but your little independents don't have the margins to offer Black Friday discounts or compete with the internet.

I like going into my independent bookshop and having a chat about the local authors and going to the craft (and everything else) shop for a small length of something that I'd only be able to buy a ball of elsewhere.

Does supporting the local craft beer bar where it’s absolutely quality drinks and a huge selection. Rather then hitting Wetherspoons where it’s cheaper to drink shit lager than Pepsi count?

As for most.

I do worry that small and local will only exist for those who have no choice but to buy 1 of something and middle classes who can afford 'artisan'.

Absolutely! And, because I hate 'Spoons (more the ideology of the owner than the affordability for others) you get double points from me.

I think it's a noble gesture to shop local and support your local enterprise and economy. I try to do it when I can, but unless people do it in larger numbers them the outcome is still inevitable....big business will win and the mom and pop shops will continue to disappear

Our local greengrocer does well on Bank Holidays. They're open and have all the bits and pieces people forgot to buy for Christmas dinner.

I think we will lose more than a way of acquiring material goods when they are gone.

My local butcher is cheaper than any supermarket and the meat is much better quality.

I try to use the market for veg when I can.

Other than that there are no other local shios worth using.
