They have opened a baby clothes bank near me and the idea is that those, too poor to cloth their offspring, can collect free donated clothes for their children..

A good idea I think ..

I have found someone who was in a woman's refuge years ago, so she still helps out. I give everything to her, so I know nobody gets financial gain, and no worries about how that money is spent.

I donate to the tots 2 teens group in Colchester. They do amazing work to help provide essential items, for those parents who are going through hard times.

I don't look at it as being "too poor" I see it as a parent who will utilise any help given to them for the benefit of their child. So yes,it's a good thing

Yes it's a great idea. My local hospital has a box in the maternity unit where you donate baby clothes and they are just left in the box for people to take if they need them.

When I was a kid my parents fostered. Some of the children were babies whose single mums had put up for adoption. A lot of times the mum would change her mind and decide to keep her baby, my mum always sent the baby away with a massive bag of clothes.

It's good that the spirit of that generosity continues

PS As kids we were mercenary and preferred it when a baby was adopted and the parents came to collect them. They usually left a gift of chocolates (discreetly because it wasn't really allowed)

Actually in the process of gathering up all my last baby's equipment, clothes etc. I wont lie and pretend its not gut wrenching. I have some outfits put aside for them for when they get older as keepsakes but im giving my small baby stuff into the local hosp neonatal unit and the rest to people i know need a bit of help. still get broody though lol

Amazing idea! Baby things can be so expensive and babies grow quickly.

Our local foodbank will take baby clothes donations, we get an abundance of lost property at work so every six months I will have a clear out and donate

Times are tough for families at the moment. Anything to easeva little pressure
