Just curious peeps but I’m chatting to someone here and I’m feeling a little uneasy. I’m not going to say what is bothering me as I’d like to see if any of you come up with the signs I think I might be seeing. Alternatively it could just be my imagination.

So over to you, what about a profile or conversation sets you on edge?

Signs of a catfish??

Very tentative bites during daylight hours and if you do hit into one then it will scream off, your reel smoking and probably snap your line unless you have suitably beefed up your tackle.

I've recently been catfished and stupid me didn't reverse image his pics or Skype. I was meeting a tall, dark haired, super fit guy with the best bum I'd ever seen and a funny personality.

Instead, I met a skinny, pale skinned, ginger haired, ginger bearded viking.

Always try and do your due diligence and don't be trusting anyone.

This, there are definitely very convincing ones mixed. Also now and again it has been known that even the most obvious catfish can end up being real (though very rare).

Try right clicking on a picture and selecting "search Google for this picture"

At least on my phone... Chrome on Android

Simple rule, if it doesn’t feel right, walk away

Whatever is causing you concern, ask them to do something that will help verify it, e.g. if you think they are married, ask to speak on the phone and see how evasive they are

Catfish and other scammers often try to get you to change from the website you are chatting on to another.

Sometimes it's just to increase their followers on snap or insta.

If a woman is super super keen and comes on strong with sex chat, not always but a lot of the time she isn't all she seems. Also if a womans boyfriend is apparently using her account to chat to women in the chatrooms it gives me the strong feeling that there isn't any woman in the first place.

Yeah tried that. Installed Chrome on my phone to do the lookup, but nothing found.

I think it's easier now than ever to catch somebody out if they are a man pretending to be a woman etc, with how easily it is to access a camera etc I think it would be foolish to meet up without a video chat first to help establish some trust. It's spotting the liars like people who are in relationships claiming tk be single or those people who are telling huge lies about who they are that's the difficult part.

I'd say go with your gut OP, if something seems fishy then it probably is.

I'd be surprised if anyone got truly catfished on here. The lying and pretending to be someone else to get a response, yes - but to drag it out and build a whole relationship without ever actually meeting, does that happen? We aren't on here looking for love, but for meets! Lots of time wasters on here, but it's a strange site to come on as a true catfish!

You get hookes by a 'hottie' they find out about you, where you live, what you do and they eventually gather enough info to identify you...find you on social media and if youre a naughty boy or girl..black mail you into keeping your sex life a secret...thats a real threat peeps.. but only to cheats and anyone who would rather die than have their friends find out...

Not photo verified or have no verifications, out of date face pics, lack of selfies, pictures with filters, reluctant to send face pics, pictures that look like they have been stolen from Facebook. Refusing to cam or video chat prior to meeting.
