BTW, I love Adele fans - people who seem never to have heard of The Carpenters - Goodbye to Love is a genuine masterpiece.

They've not heard of Dusty Springfield either - even though Adele seems to choose some of her stage costumes as if she's trying to look like on of Dusty's backing singers - I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten is superb.

Oh, and David Gates love song to his dad, Everything I Own, is utterly beautiful....

And a quick entry for a love song instrumental - Cause We've Ended As Lovers by Jeff Beck...

Love the Carpernters, they were touring and were due to be in Blackpool on my birthday and had tickets to see them, Unfortunately it was cancelled due to her being ill. My favourite Christmas song is 'Merry Christmas Darling' from, their Christmas album. I also have it on vinyl as a single
