If you could pick five music artists/bands to introduce to us all, who would you choose and what two songs for each artist/band would be the tunes to initiate us?

I need some musical education.

I think you'll have heard of all of these

Ward Thomas - "Material" and "Guilty Flowers" - I love how they harmonise.

Chvrches - "Death Stranding" and "Miracle" - Really like Laurn Mayberry's voice

Oasis - "Rock n Roll Star" and "She's Electric" - when they had something to say.

Paul McCartney - "Live and Let Die" and "Frog chorus" okay I'm reaching in the barrel with frog chorus but it must have brought a smile!

Michael Jackson - "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" Two iconic early 80s tracks

This cover by a chap called Teddy Swims makes me weep it is embued with such emotion. Astonishing.

"Want some Canadian bands?

Well, without naming the obvious internationals like Neil Young, Alanis, Bryan Adam's, Micheal Buble, Barenaked Ladies, Drake, Shawn Mendes...the list goes on and on....

In no particular order:

1. The Dead South - In Hell I'll be in Good Company.

---- honestly, this song stays with you. The lyrics are fucked up but catchy, its so simple, it's very grassroot bluegrass, and it just stays with you.

2. David Usher/Moist - Breathe. Black Black Heart. The Music.

----"if only I could breathe what you breathe." Quite honestly one of the best songwriters in the world in my opinion.

3. Basement Revolver - Baby

----I am finding an addiction to her. This is stuff you listen to when take that late night drive and can't find those words. Very understated, think clashing acoustic with an 80s background and a d*unk Adele.

4. Hedley - Dont talk to Strangers.

---- despite the allegations going on, as I dont care much about private lives, this song is amazing and sexy and catchy. Young guy gets tied up by a 40 year old for sex.

5. Tragically Hip - Blow at High Dough, Wheat Kings

---- I will never not mention the Hip. This is Canadas band. They have huge international hits, think "end of the century" but this is quintessential Canadian. I actually get teary because I miss Gord Downie (lead singer).

Sorry little long but you wanted tracks, and I love music so much.

Right....

Shawn Lee - Kiss in the Sky / Teen Beat

Deus - Instant Street / Little Arithmetics

Linton Kwesi Johnson - Sense Outta Nansense / Mi Revalushenary Fren

Stereolab - Ping Pong / French Disko

Lemon Jelly - The Shouty Song / The Staunton lick

Hopefully accessible enough that you don't have to be am utter music geek to find pleasure immediately, but obscure enough to be hidden gems. If you know most or all of these you are a geek like me...

That was like sitting a test...
