That pint on Sunday evening on the train home from London

It's a funny old time to be travelling on trains is Sunday evening. They're always busy, busier than I would expect anyway.

I don't know what it is exactly but I think it's a mix of students heading back to their digs disconsolately after a weekend being lorded over, housewives heading back to their chores after a day's shopping escapism and young working class males after a day boozing/football or both..but the atmosphere is very subdued.

I'm there in my own little world, alone and half-cut, surveying my fellow passengers and trying to work out their stories and why the they're on train leaving Euston at 7pm on a Sunday night.

Sometimes I wish I had control of the digital display so instead if it saying 'Coach J' it would say 'why the fuck are you on this train?' so I could start a Fab-like thread to get all the passengers talking but I know some c**t would only hijack it and start wittering on about Volvos.

Every trip is like Jimmy on the 5:15 for me; I'll never grow out of it.

I had some wonderful chats on the train last night. When people finally take their eyes of their mobile phones.. wonderful things might occur

Exactly, there are so many different people on there; different cultures different ages, different social backgrounds. The UK in a microcosm, right there in coach j. I'd love to have known that they all thought about Brexit, Ant & Dec...and Volvos.

Mine spoke of corporations, invited skin smoothness testing and asked me teach them naughty words in my native language

But also the other day there was this amazing group of men with drums and accordions singing cheerfully Jingle Bells in a very upbeat fashion. Whole carriage smiled.

I'm scared to get on the tube at the moment.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I've elicited a generous donation to charity, secured shoes in my size at cost price and had people share their woes with me on train journeys.

The Sunday night train also has the people who have to travel somewhere for a Monday morning meeting. I hate that train and try and avoid having to have THAT Monday meeting or event.

The bus allows you to see the glories of London. Can you manage the Ginger Line?
