Can you pretend that you like people you don't?

I find it impossible- it was like when the clock struck midnight on my 40th birthday the fucks I gave about whether people liked me or not all disappeared

I cant even fake a half smile anymore.

I'm going to get the sack if I don't learn how to pretend.

I'm the same! My tolerance for idiots has all but disappeared with age, I find it hard to even make small talk and feign a smile like I would before.

Yes I can. I have to really in my job. It’s more tolerating people and being polite. But I couldn’t pretend to be friends with someone etc.

You don't need to like people, just be professional. A minimum level of politeness and courtesy is required but only enough to keep your professional standards.

You have to be polite to those you don’t like, that’s working life, but that is as far as it goes. Outside of work there is normally one in a group I don’t like, but again it’s easy to be polite, but I’m not going to be your friend and you’ll know it

You just have to fake a little interest in people, keep it small amount and when they start to get on your nerves plan your exit strategy, civil bit small.
