It’s really difficult to pin it down. But I suppose when you can’t stop thinking about someone. And in each situation you would like to be able to share with them. You crave interaction with them. I think it’s not really love because you don’t really know someone you haven’t met. You love the projection of the person not the real person.

Oh I did meet them and that fuelled the infatuation, but it was still an infatuation with the idea rather than really being the person. If it had been love It would have been the person not the idea and I would have been willing to do anything within reason to be with them.

I virtually 'met' someone online a few years back and we used to talk on the phone every day, text, Skype etc ..

I went through a phase of thinking I had feelings for this man - I'm not sure it was love though.

He's completely unavailable and dishonest- married.

I have never met him.

I think he came along when I was at my most vulnerable- someone to talk to.

I still speak to him via text occasionally but it's nothing like it was.

I 'played the tape forward' in my mind and met my fantasy man ( in my mind only ) and I was let down.

I have a little more respect for myself now and only want to meet available people.

It’s a difficult one. Before I started speaking to people online and I’d seen that catfish a few times and a few other things I just used to think bloody nutjobs, what’s the matter with them. I can see how this can happen now. I don’t think I could fall in love with someone without meeting them but I have had really strong connections and one time I knew that it would be more than just a friendship/sex once we’d met. I do still struggle with the falling in love without meeting someone and even getting engaged etc! I personally don’t think it’s possible for me.

I can't say I have fallen in love with someone before meeting them but I have liked them quite a bit.

I'd always be a bit cautious until we have met. Yes, there have been wonderful stories of people meeting after falling in love and it just working. Everything clicks. I've also seen it play out and end poorly many times on here.

This is kind of it. It is entirely possible, it happened to me. Upon meeting my feelings did not change (stronger or weaker) and were definitely confirmed to be true. As you say it does not always turn out that way.

However it is a rare thing to happen, it is not something that somebody just allows themselves to do.

Until it happens, it is not something easily understood.

Yes. I met my partner online and fell in love before we met. I spoke to him online every day for a year and we video chatted daily and spoke on the phone and we really got to know each other. It was all confirmed when I met him for the first time that I really was crazy in love and he was too.

It's 11 years later now and we have a child and we still love each other like crazy. My love for that man grows every single day. I'd say the love I have now is so much stronger than it was when we first met, but that doesn't mean I wasn't in love back then.

"Yes.

That is a beautiful story..Thanks for giving me the hope!

"Not sure you can love someone you have never met personally you can be in lust but love?"

It is not lust. Trust me. I am not looking at her nudes every day or the second day and thinking how am I going to bang her. The thoughts are beautiful. Holding her hands, kissing her, running my fingers through her hair..Lot of conversations..The list goes on.

I think you can be in a sort of state of love with someone before you meet them. But I think you need to meet to get clarity on it. That said, if you connect and feel strongly about each other from a distance then I think you're more likely to spark when you do meet.

I fell in love with someone within 5 seconds of meeting him for the first time. I have no idea why, it took my breath away. In some ways it was beautiful, in some ways it would have been better if it hadn't happened. But it changed the course of my life hugely.

"Has anyone ever fallen in love with someone you have never met? If you did, how did you know you were falling in love? "

Now. Grown attracted to but the rest followed after meeting. Sometimes people aren't all they appear to be. Others are a real treat and blossom from there

Possibly. It is not the physical attributes that matter to me. It's the mental and spiritual attributes that mate. Trust me, I have gone out with women who are stunning physically, but very shallow and cannot hold a decent conversation. It was a torture meeting them

OP

I’m kind of in your position, only a little further down the line....

He is everything.

I am infatuated, but it’s more than that, it’s been four months since we first started chatting on here, about three months since we first met.

Neither of us have ever been able to control our feelings. We’re both a bit reckless, very romantic, very sexual, warm, loving people. We are like a drug to each other.

I think of him constantly. Not sex, just being next to him, his smell, the way he looks at me.... I crave him, and I know he feels it too.

It’s absolutely nuts. I feel 15 again.

I certainly feel like I’m in love.

It’s not plain sailing but I would love it if we could overcome obstacles and be together.

I kinda did. I wouldn't say it was love but definitely very strong feelings and somebody I could see myself in a relationship with. We have now been together nearly a year and very much in love.

I met L online and we got very close, we lived 80 miles apart so expected nothing to come from it. We were talking daily and it was very clear we just clicked. It certainly wasn't love, until I looked into her eyes the minute I was stood in front or her. I don't believe I could of loved her if we did not meet

Yes .

Many years ago. We got chatting on line .

Then it became texts

Quickly it escalated in to phonecalls and mind-blowing phone sex.

This went on for about 2 years.

I took drastic action and got on a train to Manchester to surprise him . (Not in a creepy stalker way )

It was thrilling and terrifying. Probably the bravest thing I've ever done.

Our relationship continued for many years at a distance. Seeing each other when we could .

Despite the hurt that came and almost 16 years on, we still remain friends and love each other dearly .

Now if the person I haven't met, is someone I shouldn't fall in love with, then I could ask have I ever fallen in love with someone I shouldn't have fallen in love with...

How would I know, maybe I'll get a buzz in my cock or buzz my cock...
