The Band - The Last Waltz

It's come to my attention that there are a number of fans of The Band here so here's a threat to celebrate one of the greatest concert movies ever made.

Which is your favourite track, does it feature a guest star? If not then who was your favourite guest star?

I'm very torn, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Van the Man are all so amazing. So is everyone really. But Dylan, my life's idol in his iconic white fedora launching effortlessly into "Forever Young" surrounded by the old friends who supported him ten years ago on tour... It doesn't get any better for me.

Let's here your faves, ya bunch of old hippies

It's just beautiful. He was in such an amazing creative period and already had such an amazing legacy. There's no one like him. Scorsese only topped the Last Waltz when he Made No Direction Home. I can't thank my parents enough for naming me after one of his songs.

They saw him in his prime. My dad's hearing has been dodgy ever since I was a kid cos him and my mum went to see The Who a LOT I've now got the same problem

Van the man high kicking his way off stage is indeed a sight to behold.

Levon singing The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is sublime.

Dr John always makes me smile.

But, the older I get, the more I love Coyote by Joni Mitchell.

Great concert by a great Band.

Such a night by Dr John...saw him play it live in Edinburgh...I was close enough to reach out and touch him if I wanted-best seats at a gig I ever got.

Someone once said Joni Mitchell was doing a cover of "Woodstock" !! I was as furious as the time someone referred to Nick Mason as "that bloke" in my home!! What a fucking liberty!!

I'm not gonna disagree with the OP. Dylan was great with that song(one off my funeral songs I reckon. At least it was when I was in myy maudlin twenties..). But yeah Neil Young also, even though I'm not a massive fan.

Wow I never imagined this would actually inspire people to watch it, that is just so cool. Its a wonderful film, the interviews are great as well as the music clips. Omg no one's even mentioned Eric Clapton duelling with Robbie or Muddy Waters doing his thing. Or that sublime performance of Evangeline with Emmy Lou Harris.
