"I have tried it twice and I can honestly say it didn't make the slightest bit of difference on either occasion. " I know I just can’t see how it would work. I take it you tried it twice just to make sure haha.

"It can work for some people but not others. Probably forms of psychotherapy are more effective for you if you're sceptical. " I wasn't sceptical at all. I had read enough to think that it could really work for what I needed. That's why I tried it twice. Unfortunately it didn't do anything.

" It could be that the practitioners you used were not right for you, the quality of the rapport between client and practitioner has been shown to be pivotal in success rates. It can be a very successful technique for promoting behavioural or perception shifts but only if potential secondary benefits of current behaviours are addressed.

"If you believe you can do something, or that something will work you've got more chance of sucess than if you believe you can't " Try it OP, what have you got to lose? It might work.

"We had a helpnotists (lol) who came into the nightclub I worked at in my 20s and he did his thing on a young man in the audience for fun. This lad, if he heard a bell ring, would have to cluck and strut around like a chicken. It was quite humorous. Throughout the act he did this and throughout the evening there he was with no thought to it, every single time the little twinkly bell went, he was full on chicken. Anyways, there was a kerfuffle in the audience and this kid and his friends had to leave suddenly. And this young man didnt get the spell off of him before he left. So I have always wondered if, anytime this poor soul hears a bell ring, he just automatically struts and clicks around like a chicken. Or if hes in a loony bin because of it. " Poor guy!

"That’s what I was thinking. I’ve been told I’m strong willed. An it won’t work if I won’t let it or believe it. But I want to believe it would work an that isn’t the same. So strange how the mind works " Helpnosis can be a very powerful catalysis for change, but it does depend on your rapport with the therapist and your attitude... most of the change happens between sessions… its not a passive thing you sit back and have done to you... you need to do any exercise set by the therapist. Its great that you are strong willed, you just need to find the way to get that strength of mind to help you become the person you want to be. The other problem is that Helpnosis is unregulated, so people who train for a month can call themselves a Helpnotherapist along with those who train for a year or more. If you write to me privately, I can point you in the direction of finding a good therapist
