Similarly, until 3rd year in big school I had no friends. It took me to knock the school bully out before I was able grow in confidence and show my personality without fear. Brains wise, I passed most of my GCSE's but was no scholar.

Very quiet in primary school, small group of friends, definitely “teachers pet”, loved getting the answers right ()... Went further into my shell after my mum died when I was 7 (books and studying were my escape). Came out of my shell a bit more at high school, got in with a “cool’ crowd, and got my head down and studied whilst trying to be part of said crowd (oh and also dodging bullies - no easy feat).

Slightly distracted by boys in Yr 10/11 but still managed to get A* and A GCSEs (no idea how). Overall (minus the brief period of bullying), I loved school.

Very shy in primary, bullied by some other kids as it was a small community and my mother was one of the teachers. Thankfully that ended after 8 years, secondary was a much happier place for me. I was academically bright and not a lot of effort was required on that front, came out of my shell somewhat and formed a couple of friendships that are still going strong.

Yes me too, it caused untold issues giving me depression and anxiety issues as an adult

I was described as an abused child by the one to one mental health assessment which shocked me, all down to being bullied as a child, Aged about 9 I started to fight back.

At 13 I was regarded as someone not to push as I had a temper.

But inside always hated violence

But in general hated school

Restless, always asking questions, often challenging the authority of the teachers and generally being very disruptive. Always looking for an argument or intellectual punch up with my teachers. I must have been a nightmare. I think opinion of me amongst my teachers was mixed. Most thought I was (in the words of one said teacher) a total waster, someone who was pretty worthless and wouldn't go far. There was one teacher who used to mock and bully me in front of the class, often for my incorrect spelling or poor reading (I'm dyslexic). To be fair I think as a vindictive response to me challenging his authority and making life hard for him in class. Ironically despite him constantly saying I was nothing, I've had a great life, done awesome things and as vulgar as this sounds I make a good deal more than him in. But a couple teachers really liked me, said I was very intelligent and invested in me even though I was difficult. Now as an adult I can see how cool those teachers were and how much they did for me. Also in primary school I was always getting into fights. I was very different from a lot of the kids on the estate, but I always stood my ground as I was bought to to. So there was often no other option than fight (or so it seemed). Plus fighting was very normalised in those days. As you can understand I spent a good deal of my time at school being throw out of class and in detentions.

To be fair I wasn't the same in every lesson. I really engaged with a couple of subjects like History and Physics. In these subjects my behaviour was far better on reflection.

It really does feel like the worst thing when you’re that age. So damaging. I suffered it slightly but not to the extent I hid in toilets all day. No one should feel that way. You seem like a lovely soul anyway and I bet they are still nasty bullies. So who’s the winner

Quiet, shy, well behaved. I did have a limit though, and it only took one bully at each school to find out where it was. They wouldn't bother me after that.

Three primary schools in two countries, and then a different high school to all of my peers, set me up to accept the ending of friendships without a feeling of loss. I'm still very much a loner.

I was smart enough that they put me in the "good at maths and science" accelerated course at high school, where they apparently hadn't considered that pushing us through our weaker subjects at the same rate might not be such a good idea. It took me decades to understand and appreciate literature and history.

I was a good pupil in infant and junior school, but I was also relentlessly bullied by the older boys and some of my classmates for my ears and then whatever else they could pick on me for, which destroyed my confidence and I started having anxiety, depression and OCD issues from being around 7. It didn't help that my dad had just lost his dad when I was 4 or 5 and it put him in a foul mood the majority of the time for years afterwards and home life wasn't great, so by the time I was a teenager I was acting up at school and being a bit of a shit. I managed to sort myself out and get decent enough grades when I left school though.

Where do I start? Was bullied at secondary school for the 5 years. Never liked any subject really, and just wanted to get out of it. Sports was also bad. I was known as the teachers pet, which made it worse. That school really made me how I am now: very shy and really unhappy that it takes a lot for me to trust people. I thought in the past about killing myself, but never did, as things were so bad.

Was a small for his age skinny lad throughout, who nevertheless could be cheeky and could usually respond to bullies with my mouth as none of them liked to be made to look like idiots.

I was also the kid at school that everyone thought was going to be a rocket scientist when I grew up as I was academically gifted, but ended up doing a highly physical job?

Probably in large part due to circles I mixed in during my teens and applying myself accordingly or rather not so. Still like my job though it can be exhausting sometimes!

In a lot of ways, very similar to what I am now.

Was competent enough to get good grades without having to really make much effort (eg History. Attainment: A Effort: C) Unfortunately this has led me into a false belief that everything should come easily.

Drifted into the nerds social group most often, although could mix just as easily with any other group which means I'm either very good at mixing with anyone or very bad at making true friends.

Was more outgoing then in some ways, or indiscreet. If I had a crush on someone, I'd tell everyone. Big mistake. BIG mistake. Now I tend to spend time pretending I don't have any feelings, and am not sure which is the healthier option.

Having been 6' 3" and 14 stone at the age of 12 I was an obvious target for bullies wanting to show off, despite my not caring for violence. I did win a fight (probably on a points decision) against a well known professional boxer's cousin, tho, which it felt like half the school turned out to watch

Bright yet lacked confidence in my own abilities.

Bit of a clown but serious when expected of me and appropriate.

I would hang out with the lads and outcasts more than the "popular" girls. Those girls were bitchy twats who would throw another under the bus, lie and gang up like hyenas to crush their enemies (enemies being those who didn't agree or conform with their way of thinking, or bow down to their wonderfulness or designer shoes) I was the one who called them out on their behaviour when bullying others, especially the "weak" and had the focus directed at me. I took it to protect others. I could only take it for so long tho, and barely attended my final year.

In the end it felt like I was being fed to lions, they'd wait for me after school, I'd have things pelted at me in lessons, get followed into the toilet and have the door thumped and kicked, wet toilet roll thrown over the cubicle at me, names shouted at me whilst I was trying to escape and have a piss ffs. My mum worked in the primary school next door and I was "bringing shame on her by bunking school" all she cared about was "how do you think it looks that my own daughter skips school when I work in a school myself?" "You're an embarrassment" "Those girls are the least of your worries compared to what I'll do to ya unless you get your arse there"

You know, bullied at school and at home. I distanced myself from home and school and found peace on the ice, where I could just "be" and people liked me for me.

I'm still that kid who stands up for what she believes in, calls people out on bullshit, lacks confidence in abilities but now.... I like me.

The South Near That London

I was sent to a small boarding school (forces kid) Academically I never found the work difficult so I coasted along doing the minimum required. Socially had a blast and made some true lifelong friends, who 35+ years on we are all still in contact and meet up whenever we can.

There is a Fab connection with my old school, it is now the venue for Club 666 parties in the West Country

La la land

Called a swot a lot due to my love of reading and science. Got bullied a fair deal due to being ginger and a 4 eyes. I was never popular, but the friends I did make I still have now, even though our lives have taken different paths

"Precocious, gifted, constantly asking questions, massive book nerd, really a bit of a condescending twat towards other children I didn't feel measured up academically.

I'd like to say I've changed but I really haven't.

Northampton Somewhere

I was a good girl at primary school, although towards the end I got kicked out of Brownies, I can't remember why.

At high school I was incredibly shy, it was massive compared to my little village school. I was the last one to get on the school bus which was a pain.

I hung around with the other gothy girls and we got teased badly, not never bullied as such.

I had quite a lot going on in my life for a young girl, consequently didn't do as well as I could have.

People say they'd go back, and I'm one of those! Trying to give my support to my kids unlike my parents with me!

"Bright yet lacked confidence in my own abilities.

I like me.

P"

Glad it worked out in the end so that you like yourself, as that's probably the most important thing in life

Quite bad, a bit of a shit to be exact. I got into quite a bit of trouble in my last 2 years. Never did like being told what to do.

Still, it all turned all right in the end.

I hated school, was bullied really bad as my parents was very poor so all the posh kids used to beat the crap out me most days, not one on one but in gangs, the bitchy stuck up girls and I struggled to make friends..

From the age of 13 I decided enough was enough and never went back, left school didn't even do my gcse's, which I regret now as I'm as I'm stuck in a dead end job and would of loved to have worked with anamils. X

Sad to hear that.

Thought about adult learning courses? Can gain GCSE equivalents I believe, and never give up on your dream of working with animals.
