I find many profiles describe themselves as 'open minded' and i'm not too daft to know everyone is different and have their limits but what is your mind open to?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My mind is open to challenge, to new ideas and to welcoming difference.

It is closed to acts I find abhorrent, to language that I find offensive and to sex that is about using me and tossing me aside.

1st point I agree 100% you never know if you like something til you try!

2nd point I guess is about personal limits and most importantly manners and respect?

Thats different you are stating what you like not declaring what you are. In reality the phrase open minded is adjective and one persons open mindedness is a shut door to others. Its a bit like the guys on fab who rattle about being straight on their profile but will happily go balls deep on a tv. No I find if someone is declaring they are one thnig they are rarely that.

I get that but I guess some open minds are not as open as they like to portray!

For me I mean my mind is open to other people's sexual quirks and kinks. They may not always be for me (though some will and some I would be willing to try) but I'm always open to hearing about them and talking to them about them without judgement.

Yeah I agree with you there as said that people have their own limits and versions of what is open minded to them. Maybe wrongly I may assume that the 'open minded' statement may also be interpreted as quite adventurous to try new things on the erm, let's say, 'the kinky scale' lol and definitely yes so many people on here say they are something they are not!

I like that! I've had some good fun and interesting chats with people who are intrigued in as to why I like to wear lingerie and how I got into it without being judgemental weather they are into it or not! quite refreshing!

The same goes for myself...we don't judge another's likes or dislikes, often intrigued enough to chat

The right place

To me open minded is being open to change your views and opinions as new evidence or experiences emerge during your life.

Closed minded is thinking you absolutely know something to be the case and are unwilling to question that position even if evidence to the contrary emerges.

To appreciate something, or a concept you hadn't considered before (or considered seriously) in a positive, truly appreciative or reflective way. Or to be very prepared to ha e you're opinion modified or completely changed about a subject, activity or concept??

Does this mean devoutly religious people are close minded?

On a mooch

Open mindedness can be applied in so many aspects of your life and those you interact with.

Open mindedness with others, for me is as simple as everyone is different; entitled to be who they want to be; respect their opinions and beliefs even if differ from your own; basic respect goes a long way

For me it’s never saying never, willing to try things new, never dismiss something as a bad idea. Don’t take everything you’re told or read as gospel, go find out for yourself

Open mindedness makes for good open conversation and debates
